RGMage2
The line in the ini file to edit is:iScreenShotIndex=to find that line I usually use the search feature in the text editor (Ctrl+f to bring up the search feature, type in screen and keep hitting the find next button until that line is hi-lighted.) The next line in the file is:SScreenShotBaseName=ScreenShotYou can use this line to change the name of your ScreenShot. Lets say you were doing a series if shots while doing the Thieves Guild quest line, and you want to make them easy to identify later. If you change these two lines to:iScreenShotIndex=1SScreenShotBaseName=ThievesGuildthe next screenshot you take will be named ThievesGuild1, and all screenshots after that will follow in numbered sequence. As to why you are crashing on exit, that will be caused by a mod conflict or a problem in the load order. I'm having that same problem right now and I'm sure it is because of a mod I recently installed that uses a different world space. I've had this happen before, and I believe that when I am finished playing with this particular mod, and I deactivate it, my game should return to normal. "all of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again" Any changes you make to the video settings while in-game must be saved in the ini file for them to be in effect the next time you load your game. So using the saveini command will also solve this problem. You can manually make changes to the ini file for Resolution, Brightness, and Texture. I'm not sure which lines for Brightness and Texture Sizes, but if you look a couple of lines above the iScreenShotIndex= line you will see:iSize W=1920iSize H=12001920x1200 being the resolution my game is currently set to. Now if I had to use my old monitor, which has a maximum resolution of 1280x1024, I would have to change this setting in the ini file because the game would probably not load when set to a resolution that my monitor could not display. So it's a good thing to know this. If you want a guide for tweaking the ini file check this out http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_8.html Before you do anything to your ini file you should back it up (copy it and save it to your desk top) I wouldn't worry too much about your English. What I notice on this board is that there are people from all over the world posting here, and for many of them English is not their native language. I myself speak Canadian English which I am told has its own oddities and peculiarities. My family is from Scotland and that is another language altogether. Most people on this forum are willing to make an effort to understand each other. Cheers
Sarya
saveini, it's saveini, not savini. And I prefer saving screenshots after crash, I do it anyway, at least as I change them to jpg.
Aeryn333
Ta everybody for you help..I understand now, and really apprecaite it..You all seem like a nice lot here..tis good feeling for change.. I think I know which mod..Now think about it.. start after Reeners guard overhall..I like the mod, he says its not cauesing crashes, but happen since that mod install....I try load order according to recommended on wiki..so I think I got all big and important mods loaded in OBMM the way needed, but who knows with allot of the other mods, been playing so long have so many, its hard to tell..So will take all your advice.. Thanks you Sarya, ( sorry i mispell, I knew what you said, but I type wrong sometimes, part of my dyslexia..) You mad I not understand you and not ask..??? Also thank you Aoikani .... RGMage2 too, and all your info it helped allot.. and very much thanks for your patience and clarity, it helps much and know the link, tweak settings before with that such as water etc. But don't remember it mentioning the brightness part maybe I missed, will look again...Edit..no this different link, I see link I had washttp://www.atomicmpc.com.au/article.asp?SCID=27&CIID=36546&p=1 :Optimising Oblivion v3.0I will try yours looks newer thanks again.. Ta you all seem good folks.. Go raibh maith agat ( thank you very much) :) cheers mates.. Edit..02-07-08 It worked I tweaked a few things, I found a tweak to force oblivian to use my 3.0 shaders in my graphics card for it does have them..The 7950GT, was like a high end card but the transition one I think into the 800 series.. that was good find, that tweak anyway..and a few things to take advantage of my duel core extreme processor..less stutter now also..and does look better now..so thanks for link.. I set my texture to large, for my rig can handle it.. and I wanted my resolution the same as my desktop.. 1280x1024...I bought a brand new computer, but couldn't afford after the money I sank into the gaming 'puter a new monitor also..I had just got a new LCD, one for old computer cause other monitor died, so its still a newer good 17 inch one, so I said what the hay, and that is my max resolution on it, but its good enough, and I have Oblivian looking pretty nice with the mods I have.. especially with Quarls pack 3 optimized..and things like that. One day when I get this puter paid down some I get a bigger monitor..But anyway I changed the settings while in game, hit escape so I could use conslole set all the things I wanted changed, then did saveini and closed down, and even though it crashed on exit, they were saved, on next open I checked and all is well...so thanks for that...a whole lot.. G'day to ya mate Slàinte !!!!
