XxSoulStrikerXx
Alright, so I downloaded the hd texture pack because I didnt originally have it in my skyrim data folder. Then I got rid of the two hd texture esps, copied the skyrim_default.ini from program files/ the elder scrolls V, and renamed it to Skyrim after making the changes in the Archive section, then put it in the Data folder. But now when I try to load up a game, Skyrim just crashes -.- It used to only crash whenever I tried fast traveling to Whiterun or any of the major holds for which I had the Sexy town mods installed for. Does anyone know why it does this? Edited April 15, 2012 by XxSoulStrikerXx
fms1
The ini. should go in My Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder where your save game folder is located.

Yes and a SkyrimPrefs ini., the "Skyrim" one in my documents is the one the game exe. reads for the info, the Skyrim_default in your "Skyrim" is the one that the exe. copys and renames, and places in my documents the first time you run Skyrim or if its not present there when you do (i.e. if you delete it). fms1
Short answer yes, the one in your My Games\Skyrim is "short" i.e. here's mine: ( the [MapMenu] section has been added and you will not need it, and some of the other may be different idk I didn't search every line, and may not work well on your PC.) XxSoulStrikerXx
ok, I did the replacements and such, put the high def bsa's back into the data folder, and my game still crashes after loading up any save. By the way, this is what i'm trying to do, its from this forum: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/554970-important-info-for-mod-authors-regarding-official-hd-texture-pack/ I'm trying to do the "update 2" part from the first post, so the town mods will work. fms1
Yes I believe where they said put the ini. in the Skyrim\Data folder is supposed to be the one in My Documents\My Games\Skyrim folder, and the HD texture pack can cause side effects also depending on your PC hardware as mentioned in this link (also doing it this way is not needed since the latest patch, but using the esp.'s before also caused many problems.) HD Textures DLC Fix Also if your game works on a new game or another save, the save you are using may be corrupted. And I'm sorry if I'm confusing more than helping.
