[LE] Door activator only working the first time

I've got an activator (portcullis) in my mod that has a pull chain on either side. I've added both pull chain activators into the "Activate Parents" tab of the portcullis, but for some reason the activation of the gate only works the first time I use it. After that, the gate stays open and neither pull chain does anything.

 

I've tried adding the parents by using both the "Select reference in render window" option as well as picking the cell, then the reference. I've gotten nowhere on it, but I'm hoping it's one of those simple little quirks that experienced modders know about.

 

Has anyone run into this issue before?

UPDATE: I started from scratch and seem to have determined that the issue is with the DLC1 fireplace mesh. If I use a different mesh, say a portcullis, the animation works normally. I went back and checked the fireplace mesh used in Volkihar Ruins, and the only difference I can find is that the candlestick activator there plays a scene. All the scene script does is make Serana acknowledge you opened it and say some dialogue.

 

I'm really scratching my head at this point...
