Havoc10K
I've been looking for something like this, the basic idea is to display the current level of actively used skills, usually there are 3 of them depending on the build. The idea generally comes from World of Warcraft but I haven't seen anything like this in singleplayer games like Skyrim where monitoring your actively used skills without going into the skills menu is actually pretty useful. The idea is a small on-use filling bar for every active skill. If the player uses light armor with 1h weapon and shield (assuming light armor shield) then the bars show:Light[==========]One Handed[==========]Block[==========] occasionally the player will use a picklock or talk to someone where the skill will improve by a point, then for a brief period of time the additional bar will show up with the skill that has been just used. There of course can be more than 3 bars, and since my idea about this is to not distract the player from anything with them they could be a line of them over the standard healthbar and such, which is not invasive. Something like this:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38202095/example.pngNotice that in this cap I increased my block a second ago and I made the that factor noticeable on the active skill bump that it's already fading as it only poped up when I actually used it and since I am not wearing a shield it is not acting like an active skill. This is just an example image of what I have in mind. I'm not actually a modder so I'm not working on it but it would be cool if someone actually would do it for me.
