LonesomeCoyote
If you're curious, I could give you the exact changes (note, they're the same changes that the mod IMPACT recommends)
EPDGaffney
That's probably why. I'm trying to keep my game almost entirely vanilla as I work on my mod. I used to love playing with the maximum decal settings, though. I don't know why, but that just made the game feel great to play, and made a bigger difference than you'd think it would. But why was she not being hit? That seems a little weird. I should have tested the BB for decals. I think this may have to do with hitscan. LonesomeCoyote
You know what was a cool but impractical mod was the one that allowed you to destroy just about everything. I don't remember the name, looking now.
LonesomeCoyote
I think it's been taken down, I can't seem to find it anymore. Basically made a lot of environment objects destroyable. Was definitely an awesome mod, but not practical by any means. You make a mess of everything with a minigun and can't find anything to loot cuz it's all covered in debris. I had a good time with it though.
EPDGaffney
Funny you should mention that, cos right now I'm converting a wall into a destructible object. It's for a setpiece effect, though, not for the player to blow up. I considered making a lot of stuff in this area destructible, but it's a lot of work, so I don't think I will. Well, I would, but some stuff wouldn't work and the lack of consistency would get weird. Edited March 27, 2018 by EPDGaffney
LonesomeCoyote
I think it's a awesome thing to do if done eloquently. I found a video of the mod I was talking about, but I was right, it's hidden on the Nexus.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6NRAhjtTUU - The showcase of the mod I'm talking about starts a little after 1:
EPDGaffney
Wonder why it's gone. Mad Ace is KiCHo666, if you didn't know. Still an active modder and member of the community, so I'm not sure what happened.
LonesomeCoyote
No idea, all I know is the mod was definitely cool. I stopped using it because of the loot factor. It is realistic if you trash a place, you gotta move all the debris covering the stuff you want. I'd consider using it again though now that I like a more realistic game. LonesomeCoyote
Ugh...these "flyers" are really giving me a hard time.
EPDGaffney
What it comes down to is the fact that the game was never intended to be realistic, and if you go too far in making it so, you do actually break it. I mean, mini nukes? All locked doors should be accessible with this much firepower, but how boring would that be? You'd never have to work for anything, and nothing would feel rewarding. Ghouls are physically not possible, but they're great, so why not. Hundreds of years after the Great War and our best ideas for rebuilding society involve riding Brahmin and not wiring everything to use electricity? But if we had cars and could just drive everywhere and everything were rebuilt, the game just wouldn't be remotely the same game, so why do that? And finally, the whole RPG balance is fun but not like real life. Who brings a knife to a gun fight? Well, anyone with a high melee weapons skill and a lot of DT, that's who. Cos you're rather buggered if you're not the guy with the knife in that situation. I could go on, but I think it would be best if I didn't.
