That's probably why. I'm trying to keep my game almost entirely vanilla as I work on my mod. I used to love playing with the maximum decal settings, though. I don't know why, but that just made the game feel great to play, and made a bigger difference than you'd think it would.

But why was she not being hit? That seems a little weird. I should have tested the BB for decals. I think this may have to do with hitscan.

I think it's been taken down, I can't seem to find it anymore. Basically made a lot of environment objects destroyable. Was definitely an awesome mod, but not practical by any means. You make a mess of everything with a minigun and can't find anything to loot cuz it's all covered in debris. I had a good time with it though.

Funny you should mention that, cos right now I'm converting a wall into a destructible object. It's for a setpiece effect, though, not for the player to blow up. I considered making a lot of stuff in this area destructible, but it's a lot of work, so I don't think I will. Well, I would, but some stuff wouldn't work and the lack of consistency would get weird.

What it comes down to is the fact that the game was never intended to be realistic, and if you go too far in making it so, you do actually break it. I mean, mini nukes? All locked doors should be accessible with this much firepower, but how boring would that be? You'd never have to work for anything, and nothing would feel rewarding. Ghouls are physically not possible, but they're great, so why not. Hundreds of years after the Great War and our best ideas for rebuilding society involve riding Brahmin and not wiring everything to use electricity? But if we had cars and could just drive everywhere and everything were rebuilt, the game just wouldn't be remotely the same game, so why do that? And finally, the whole RPG balance is fun but not like real life. Who brings a knife to a gun fight? Well, anyone with a high melee weapons skill and a lot of DT, that's who. Cos you're rather buggered if you're not the guy with the knife in that situation. I could go on, but I think it would be best if I didn't.
