Fantastic. Glad to see all that work paying off.

In FO3, I believe you're actually invincible in VATS, haha. In NV, you take 75% damage. I think they would have gone 100% if the shooting mechanics were better and if VATS were less buggy, but they would have needed to use a different engine or have more than a year to make the game. You can see the two games' design philosophies practically encapsulated in the Grim Reaper Sprint perk, where in FO3, killing an enemy in VATS replenishes your AP points 100%, and in NV, I think it just gives you 25 points back. I actually find the perk too weak in NV to be useful compared with some others you can take, but I think it illustrates my point fairly well.

Well, I think that's just how it is with games. I used to be on a quest for realistic media, until I realised it doesn't actually exist, and that's not always the best way to evaluate serious entertainment. Often, it's a component, but rarely the whole. New Vegas has, for its rushed development, possibly the best and most realistic character interaction of the past 20 years, with an exception or two I may be forgetting. But only regarding conversations and lore. It's as if combat exists in its own realm and stands in as a representation of what really happened, rather than the events themselves. Breaking Bad is one of the most realistic television programmes I've seen to date, and even they took some liberties for entertainment. It's just the way it goes.

Yeah, VATS is much less desirable in NV. It's still good in certain situations, but I still prefer to play without it. That's just my preference though. I do like slow time effects, in DUST my character was a habitual Turbo user (I made a little mod of ingredients and to craft if so I actually had to scrounge around to actually have the chance to make it.) I was addicted to it most of my playthrough... I know there are several other mods that add in slow time using AP, but I like having some kind of repercussion for having to use something so strongly advantageous. The repercussions were that when using it, the screen had a disorienting IMOD, and of course, the chance and detriment of addiction. Made it balanced enough that it didn't feel like cheating too much.
