Have an idea for a mod I want to make, but no clue how to do it

So I have been spending a lot of time fine tuning exactly how I want my character to look, downloading the best of the armor and clothes mods, tweaking skyrim just the way I want it. Now I'm ready to play, but I wind up using the same old mage robes because they are the ones with the nice enchantments that I cant duplicate even with max enchanting skill and a grand gem, let alone in the beginning of the game.

First I tried simply replacing the meshes with the clothes I wanted the robes to look like, but it was pretty silly seeing every mage wearing the stuff. I want my dovahkiin to be unique. So I scrapped that mod.

My next thought was to decide what I was going to use for each level of robe and go in and edit the enchantment into the game file, but I also what to try my hand at publishing a mod, and that just isnt something I could publish.

My current line of thought involves the duplication of enchantments. I'd like to use Azura's star for this, just so I have a reason not to get the dark star, but I'm not set on that part. Basically I want to make a mod that destroys an object, but saves the enchantment, just like disenchanting, but instead of learning the enchantment, you keep the enchantment just the way it is, and can then apply it to something else. So I would disenchant the apprentice robes, then use that saved enchantment on on my downloaded mage robes to give them that enchantment.

Would be also useful in preserving useful unique enchantments that you cant duplicate for your own use, but dislike the object they are attached to for aesthetic reasons. Like the dragon masks. Actually most head gear in general for me.

So yeah I'm more than willing to put the elbow grease in and make the mod myself, but really have no idea how to accomplish what it is I'm trying to do. I would be very grateful if some of the more experianced modders could give me some pointers, link me to relevant guides, Et cetera. I'm not looking for someone to do the work for me, just for a push in the right direction.

Thanks in advance for your help and comments.

I would try to look at the scripting and advanced scripting tutorials. What you'll be looking to learn, aside from the basics as these are fundamental, is how to get the enchantment of an item, destroy the item, then add a special soul gem with that enchantment, on use of the soul gem (perhaps at a special crafting table or enchanter NPC) and your chosen robe (or any armor) add the enchantment to that armor. I'd just dupe the armor you want in CK and apply the enchant in there. Then drop the robes wherever your character is in game. You'll have the only one with that enchant. Using the idea of destroying an enchantment but saving it to an item that would later apply it to an armor piece is quite complex sounding in terms of scripting.

Alternatively you could make an enchantment in CK with the effects you want (Turn off auto calculate cost and set it low). After that you could apply it to a disenchantable object to learn it.

You can look up some turtorial and start working on making your own armor. Ofcourse you would need perhaps some expensive program, mayby you will have to buy photoshop. I don't know. Seems like you got some good amount of spare time, so why not start learning how to make your own mods, and then trial and error untill you make a armor that you are satisfied it, and then mayby share it here on skyrimnexus.com :)

It is super simple to go into the CK and apply an existing enchantment to a particular item. You can just go into your robe mod and place the enchantment on the robe.

Your scripting ideas on the other hand are hard enough that half of the Skyrim modders would be unable to do them. Papyrus is a nightmare to work with and most people can not intuitively get a grasp on it.

It may be that some of the ideas are pretty much impossible. It may be that some of the ideas are quite easy if you are flexible and willing to totally change the specifics of your plans in order to get a similar end result. For example, it might be cutting edge and marginal to attempt to transfer enchantments at their original levels from one item to another, but it might be easy to have an activator bestow particular preset enchantments on particular preset items.
