FDJaeger
I've been adding some paintings to my custom house mod. But some textures show up black in the CS and in game unless I add an ambient light to the Cell. Screens: WARNING slight nudity in screenshotshttp://img210.imageshack.us/img210/9969/screenshot21duq.th.jpghttp://img3.imageshack.us/img3/9581/screenshot20oc.th.jpghttp://img825.imageshack.us/img825/9092/screenshot18hi.th.jpg The last screenshot has an ambient light added to the cell. The left painting is the one I want to add, the middle one is the same mesh but with a different texture to test if it was the mesh's problem. The painting on the right is from the mod resource where I took the mesh from which I altered to fit the textures with NifSkope. I've tried adding a new normalmap to the painting. Re-saving the original colormap dds to DXT1 format. And then I used that picture to create a normalmap with GIMP following the tutorial on the CSWiki here http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php/Quality_Normal_Maps. Sadly that didn't work. I've also checked the folder structure and that seems fine, no typo's or wrong directories. This is how it looks:textures\g\3_painting\3_painting 043.ddstextures\g\3_painting\3_painting 043_n.dds The mesh is stored here:meshes\li-pics01\li-bildb.nif I should add that the original textures from the mod resource where I got them from also had the same problem, they are here:http://tes.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=30524His other resource, G_painting where the texture fom the middle painting is from does work however. At this point I am clueless as how to solve this problem. I'm new to modding and this is my first project, I don't know much about texturing and working with nif's yet. Hopefully someone here can help me.
FDJaeger
I've figured it out. I removed all underscores from the filenames and paths except the one before the 'n' in the normalmap file. Thanks to the info on the CSWiki. Pretty much a noob mistake, :wallbash:, well the good thing is that it works now.
