KingPwn22
Ive Been playing skyrim for a while, and I Always noticed it lacked any type of aquatic life other than river betties, salmon, and occasional slaughterfish. What this would do, is make the deep seas of skyrim a very awesome and dangerous place ! :D Lore Friendly Sea Monsters! The areas I Could see they would roam would be the great northern seas!!! (where mobs are the hardest anyways)they could be deep out in the ocean, actually something to come across instead of an empty abyss, with great rewards if slain. Ancient giant ones, that roam the deep seas, (pulled to shore like slaughterfish to kill?) sea monsters must be able to get up to shoreline. as well as more aquatic life, (smaller more simpler fish) (see pictures for ideas) -More Sunken Treasure Chests Deep in the Sea, with Great Treasure! (a lot, especially near shipwrecks, hidden spots etc!!) (puts waterbreathing buffs to use for once :D) drops on sea monsters would go like, -pearls/gems -very much rare loot, due to thier size and eating over thousands of years of sunken treasure. -fish meat (Perhaps a rare epic sea monster ingredient??, or scale etc, for an insane sum of gold?) I Believe this would add to The Ancientness of the Game, and Bring some Meaning to the enitre aspect of skyrim. Just an Idea that really hit my mind :)
KingPwn22
Here are two more from what I was thinking on this, one deep sea fish, (medium game) and another crocodile-like sea monster also. (there would definatly have to be a way to pull them to shore or outswim them or where they jump out of water so you could actually kill them) being as to you cant attack underwater. steve40
I'm working on a sea creature mod: JAWS: Deadly Oceans I don't know how to create new meshes or animations, so at the moment it will just be very big slaughterfish species. BTW, there are limitations to where creatures can be placed: if creatures are placed in very deep water, or outside of the normal game boundaries, Skyrim will lag badly. shuriken88
You cant attack underwater!? What kind of crap is that LOL? I didn't even realise such a "no brainer" feature was missing. I know it would be HARDER to swing a sword in water IRL, but it wouldn't be impossible, especially if your one HENCH geezer, like pretty much all male Nords and Redguards are in TES. Anyway, I've been watching this thread, hoping to see a mod come out of it, cos its a pretty sick idea. I had the Oblivion Seamonsters mod, but it was so long ago I've completely forgotten how it was. Somebody should make a mod that allows you to atleast use melee attacks underwater, or make a harpoon weapon maybe. Huge seamonsters would DEFINITELY add a bit of "scare factor" to swimming in Skyrim. You'd always have to think twice before swimming to that mysterious shipwreck. Having to fight them underwater would be FAR more intense than marooning them onland like a beached wale, then simply chopping the buggers up like a Japanese wale hater with a chip on his shoulder. All you'd have to do is avoid their mouth, and they'd be pretty much defenseless LOL. Definitely gonna check these other mods.
SergeantGrrock
Love the idea but I have yet to see a mod any where near as epic as your idea, KingPwn22. Not sure it's even possible but If it was, I'd be first in line to download it. Thanks for the cool pics btw. Oh, and how about a spear gun for underwater combat? Probly' not lore friendly enough though... Making it look ancient might be a start though. Edited April 30, 2012 by Sergeant Rock

The problem with combat in the water is the camera being half in and half out of the water, it messes up the view badly. Underwater combat in 3rd person view wouldn't work, imho. shuriken88
True, it might look a bit dodgy if you were fighting while doing breast stroke or a leisurely backstroke, but underwater I still think you should be able to get medieval on a fishes ass. I mean, if fishes can hurt YOU underwater, I want to hurt them back. It causes REALLY irritating glitches when a follower refuses to follow you across a body of water because they keep trying (and failing... miserably) to kill slaughterfish from the shore, with arrows. I'm actually surprised Bethesda hasn't made a better "swimming system" for the camera by now. Even in 1st person, you often have to look at the sky while moving forwards, just to stay above the surface (so you cant see where your going, which is straight into the mouth of some behemoth). I love these games, but its not as if bugs like this would be hard for them to adress, and they must have noticed it by now, since its been in every single TES/FO game since Morrowind! I must sound like a hater sometimes, but Im just an inquisitive motherf*cker. Sort it out lads!! Its been what? 8 years or so? steve40
There's a simple check box on the actor's form in the CK "allow combat in water" or something like that. I haven't tested it out as I know someone else is working on an underwater combat mod, so let's wait and see how it goes.
Rennn
As far as I know, that check box only affects NPCs. I'm pretty sure it doesn't do anything when you check it for the player character. The mod itself looks promising, however, as it apparently does more. I'm not sure you could actually swing a sword with lethal speed underwater, but you can certainly stab in real life.
