Creating NVG mod-how important are the surface details?

Hi,

 

I've been messing around with some outfits that i would eventually like to bring into the game. One of them is a replacer for the Sneaking Suit. It has a set of Night Vision Goggles that attach to a head harness. At first i started making a generic looking NVG set because it was easier to create in 3d but i wasnt happy with the results. So i decided to recreate the AN/PVS-7 NVG's. But not its head harness or mount because thats a bit to hard for me to recreate at the moment.

 

I wanted to know though since people probably wont ever get close enough to make out the tiny details like where the screws are or how one side is angled and stuff i should be ok with just recreating the PVS-7's basic shape right? A lot of its distinguishing characteristics are there. A rounded and rectangular structure with a tube on bottom and a dial at the end of that tube. Single tube in the front with varying diameters and some dials, and two eyeholes and the shaped rubber eyepieces. This is what i ended up making and i wanted to get everyones opinions on it. Textures arent complete yet and i still need to remake the chin strap. I was just looking for feedback on the shape of the goggles themselves.
