BlackCompany
So recently, I tried the whole TIE-style weapons mods idea. You know, make two hand weapons (2h) REALLY powerful, while also slowing them down. More realism. Except...except, there's a problem with this in Skyrim. And...gasp...its a design flaw included by Bethesda. Shocking, ain't it? Seems there is a game setting - ok, doesn't seem, there is one - the sole purpose of which is to speed up the animations for 2h weapons. Yep, that's right - make them slower than 1h weapons, then create a game setting that runs the weapon swing animation at 1.5x the weapon speed. Guess they didn't want people to actually have to make a choice between slow, heavy and hard hitting and light, fast and less damaging. Because who wants choices in an RPG, amiright? Anyway, I tried changing the game setting. Result: The animation and the weapon strike were no longer synched. You would see the strike happen, then hear the sound and get any combat hit spell effects almost a full second later. Not good, obviously. Tried changing weapon speeds. The result was the same as above. Bad all round. Has anyone else tried this? did it work? If so, how? Why would Beth do this? Its like they let a bunch of impatient 12 year olds with no attention span dictate their design.
KahjiitRaj
I know you can increase weapon speed with magic effects and it seems to work fine. I haven't tried slowing them down however so I'm not sure that would help in your situation but I thought I'd mention it any way. Maybe you could add the effect to an enchanted item or something. In the CK's object window go to Magic > Magic Effect then make a new form. You'll want it to be like the one in the included pic but you can name/describe it however you want to and some things won't be needed or can be changed depending on what you apply the effect to (like you won't need a "Skill Usage Multi" for a potion for example). The most important parts are the Effect Archetype, Casting Type, Delivery, Assoc. Items, and Flags. On the spell/enchantment/word of power/etc itself you'll want to adjust the magnitude of the effect in decimals. 1.5 magnitude is a 50% speed increases (150% total attack speed). To make the effect slow you down you should only need to check the "Detrimental" Box on the Magic Effect form but again, I have not done so myself yet so I'm not sure if you'll run into your current problem anyway. http://i41.tinypic.com/8y8g82.jpg Edited April 18, 2012 by KahjiitRaj
