VampireFox2
Hi! I am new to modding ,well "creating mods". I know how to download, install, and use mods. I've always had an interest in creating game related content after using UDK in high school. Mods caught my attention, however I've never actually tried to create or have been serious about following through with what I have in mind. I'm thinking about actually being serious and creating it. I've always had a taste for the horror genre especially after playing Cry of Fear my favorite horror game or "mod". "I thought ,what game should I create a horror mod for? Well, why not Fallout New Vegas, my favorite game of all time?!" So yeah I'm planning on making one. You may be thinking, well, isn't Dead Money already that type of thing". Yes, it had been considered sort of a "horror" type of DLC but I want to create a true horror experience for Fallout New Vegas, release it and see if people like it, if not then you guys can let me know. However being a noob at creating mods I would greatly appreciate any advice from you, fellow modders. I am somewhat experienced with GECK but have lots to learn. Here's some topics I would greatly appreciate advice on: - Editing NPCs, NPC textures, NPC voices and adding custom ones. - Adding notes to the game. - Adding custom music. - Videos on creating fallout new vegas mods for noobs. For all you expert mod creators out there, please help a noob out. Anyways thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this! Edited March 27, 2018 by VampireFox2
EPDGaffney
Hi there. I'll start by wishing you the best of luck, and let you know that it's rewarding if you stick with it. So, I'm currently making a horror mod as well. It's a murder mystery with a lot of classic-Resident-Evil-like elements, and the further it departs from the Mojave, the more it goes that way. You're asking some relatively vague questions, so I would point you here and advise you to arm yourself with the Find function in your browser (or the Contents links at the beginning):http://wiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Getting_started_creating_mods_using_GECK A similar thread was started a little while back, and you can look at how we responded to that:https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6294136-i-want-to-make-a-quest-mod-but-i-have-no-scripting-knowledge/ Basically, it's a lot of googling and YouTube-searching, and when you get stuck on more specific things is generally when you get the best help here. Look for any YouTube video on GECK basics if you need visuals to start you off, but that guide I posted approaches being comprehensive, as much as it can be. EPDGaffney
Sure sure. Post back when/if you run into trouble. Forgot to link you to the indispensable and current version of the wiki:https://geckwiki.com/index.php/Notes The best google searches tend to lead you either back to the Bethesda version of that wiki, which is old and this one's much better, or to one of the forums here. Enjoy.
EPDGaffney
Sorry to bump but I think that if no-one else answered this question, too few people are aware that it's this simple:https://prnt.sc/jbtic9 Edit: Thought I was responding to this post here--https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6520211-is-it-possible-to-edit-the-geck-editors-color-theme/ Edited May 4, 2018 by EPDGaffney
