Nvidia Control Panel Settings

Well first off - Depending on the Video Card that you have, you may not want an ENB mod / setting.

I found this out the hard way, in that my video card is high end and thus ENB & the like Mods actually made the game a whole lot worse, visually.

Turned them all off and the game was great.

If you have a decent graphics card and make the correct choice of mods and ENB preset, your game will many times better with an ENB than without. It doesn't matter if you have a 2080ti. ENB is critical to getting the most gorgeous Skyrim you can get, period.

That being said, I don't think there's anything specific you have to do with the Nvidia control panel. Default settings have been working great for me. From what I've read, however, it's best to leave shader cache enabled, and set any Nvidia control panel settings that touch on what ENB does to 'application-controlled'.

The only change I made in the default settings is that I have vsync off . Under Skyrim SE I have vsync turned on.

I have LE setup the same way.

The video cards I use to play the game are a RTX 2080 ti to play at 4k and a GTX 1080 ti to play at 3440 X 1440. For a GTX 980 ti I did not use Nvidia's vsync.

I use ENB and Reshade for SE and EMB for LE.

I have been using the same ENB in LE since 2013. To get it to run on the RTX 2080 ti I had to update the binaries.

My setup in SE only works with screen space ambient occlusion off.

This makes absolutely no sense.

Explain how this " .. makes absolutely no sense .. ", please?

My interpretation of what you said (please correct me if I'm wrong) is that you have a high end graphics card and therefore Skyrim looks better without ENB.

I appreciate 'What looks good' is subjective but its generally accepted that ENBs make the game look better than vanilla.

Yes, pretty much, but no, it's not generally ' accepted that ENBS make the game .... " as it was 4 people who told / shared with me what I posted here, back when I was having " issues " with Skyrim after I updated my Video Card.... ( Now, granted, 5 people is just that 5 people .... )

Here is the thing: Nvida has ENB's type Tech already built in ... for each game. I know this for a fact. If you have it turned ON, for Skyrim SE .... then most of the ENB's wind up " over kill " and/or more accurately, adds to the ENB Mods that they actually create Over Glare - Sun - Light and such.

Which I found to be very true and accurate.

I also agree, ENB's are seriously subjective by their very nature. But with higher end Cards, there is a chance of " over kill " in the Glare and such.
