Nvidia Control Panel Settings

I think I see what youre saying. Youre saying that having a better GPU allowed you to turn on more effects in the Nvidia control panel/GeForce experience app which led you to get a better result than using lower settings plus an ENB?

If thats the case then wont it look better to use those same higher settings plus an ENB?

Obviously ENB is subjective and perhaps you havent found one you like more than vanilla which is fair enough (although I would personally take almost any ENB over vanilla for all the nice graphical flourishes it provides over vanilla such as complex particle lights, distant tree shadows, subsurface scattering etc etc. plus all the colour changes and refinements ENB makes to the overall look of the game)

When you upgraded your card and tested this was ENB at its early stages for SE? I only ask because ENB features were quite limited when SE was first released. Its improved a lot since

- Yes, on the GPU statement. Totally spot on! :)

- Tested, no 7 months ago, when I got my new Video Card.

... you may not want an ENB mod / setting.

That makes sense. Some features like DoF, godrays, sunbursts, and blurring can indeed make for less appealing visuals, as well as being a strain on your eyes. However, features that add greater saturation and clarity can be great.

I agree as far as its probably a bad idea to have the same effect switched on in both ENB and GPU settings. Things like Depth of Field and AA should be switched off in ini or GPU settings and controlled by the ENB. Its then a matter of which ENB settings you want for example I turn DOF off completely as I dont like the effect. But AO I couldnt live without.

I disagree that you can better results using control panel/GPU settings without ENB but each to their own
