prensa
Socado1 - Hello! Have you updated your sound card drivers? You say footseps & other sounds are muted but you can hear them, have you adjusted your sound through the main menu? There you can change the levels of Footseteps, Effects, Music, etc. Launch the game & go to Settings - Audio & adjust the levels. Hope this helps! prensa
Socado1 - Hello! Have you got 5.1 selected in your speakers setting? I've seen others say that caused the issue for them, if so try stereo instead. Worth a try. :) The speaker setting is often in the taskbar shortcuts, listed under Playback Devices. Hope this helps! Socado1
Sorry but my windows 7 is in Portuguese which is my native language,Can you give me a more detailed tutorial to change speaker settings to stereo?
arewesailingblind
Sorry but my windows 7 is in Portuguese.Control panel > click the icon with the little Grey speaker, to open the up the audio control panel. Also, when you lose sound sometimes in Windows 7...you can try this then. Start the program in question, in this case Fallout 3, then minimize it. Click the little speaker icon near the time/date on the task bar. It will pop up a volume slider, below that is a text option, in English Windows it says "Mixer". Look for fallout 3 in that list (you can tell by its icon) and check to see that its slider has not been dropped to low or zero. if its slider is dropped to zero, then drag it up to the same level as the rest of the sliders. Just a thought. Edited April 20, 2012 by arewesailingblind

prensa
Socado1 - Hello! "Sorry but my windows 7 is in Portuguese which is my native language,Can you give me a more detailed tutorial to change speaker settings to stereo? " This can vary depending on your sound card. For me it's down on the Taskbar, right next to the Clock, it's a little speaker symbol with sound waves. Right click on that & select Playback Device, that brings up a window called Sound. In that window, right click on Speakers - Configure Speakers. If that's set to 5.1, change it to Stereo & see if that helps. You could also check your program files for your sound cards control panel. That often has settings that can be played with, like "Game Mode" which can help in game sounds. Mine's Creative so I find the control panel for it under "Creative" in the start menu. Hope this helps! Prensa

I don't know why it suddenly occurred, as I hadn't made any changes to my system. Perhaps it was an update that I wasn't aware of, but thanks so much! No I can hear myself lockpicking and creeping and all the other wonderful ambients!
