Role-Playing a Good Character

The classic Paladin of the D&D is the holy champion of a particular deity... She is the face, hand and the missioner of her god, she is capable of fighting and casting some spells, granted by her god and has some other abilities like healing and repelling the undead... Her alignement is always Lawful Good, so she speaks the truth, never bends it, never play tricks and always do things for the good... Not for her but for her god and the common wealth...

So on and so forth in fact to see how a paladin is, you can play Icewind Dale II, he and the monk was driving me crazy, they were always rejecting the gold payement for the quests :D I was dead broke half the game because of them :D

I felt really touched by the "Caught in the Hunt" Quest. Here is this guy who just wanted to make some money but got a little carried away, and then gets tricked and captured :( It was the first time I felt sympathy for a video game character. I wish I could have saved him at the end, but the satisfaction of getting revenge by killing the Orc who captured you was pretty nice.

If I remember correctly, he was a gambling addict :D yea he didnt deserve to die but he had it coming, I mean striking a deal with an orc? an ORC??? lol you gotta be kidding me...

For character interaction, try Baldur's Gate II, you will love the way your party talks among themselves...

And if you want to feel symphaty for characters in a video game, try Mass Effect, the final boss fight was not about saving the universe, it was personal I assure you :verymad:

I have to say that from this point of view Goblin Trouble was really a satisfying quest. Those poor people who wanted to start a farm and where overrun by goblins were really simpathetic and helping them was plaesant, even without a reward.

EDIT: Also the three quests that involved the Jemane brothers were nice, but this time also the reward - Escutecheon of Chorrol - is simply one of the best items of the entire game.

Agreed, Genghis.

I also like the Amelion quest, because nobody gets killed but folks who are already dead. But then its really upsetting later on in the FG line.

KOTN is great. Finding the chapel and fighting the ghosts is so cool and so satisfying; it really makes you feel like you've won the right to carry on their work. And then the final KOTN quest--if you can keep them all alive you feel SO good!

Thanks to all who have posted so far.

This has been an enjoyable thread, finding out which part of Oblivion has the most appeal for a player.

I've been role-playing most of the wee hours - and I'm starting to see double - so I think I'm going to call it a day for now.
