udk115modder
I recently been playing killing floor 2, and I freaking love the new AF2O11, and would love to see a double barreled M1911 in the new vegas world. Something like this. Sadly, the mod author who was working on this, never finished this, and was banned sometime ago, I would do it myself, and maybe even go balls to the wall and make AF2011 versions of all the semi auto pistols, but sadly I can't seem to figure out how to work with blender or nifskope. devinpatterson
Hmmm, maybe. Let me do a bit of research.
devinpatterson
Although straight off I don't know about two nodes for the shells ejecting. I can make two shells eject without any problems, but I don't think I can each one having divergent trajectories to either side. On a related note, it'd be possible to make a double slug projectile instead of two projectiles if the real life pistol's dual slug grouping is close. That way you up the damage instead of splitting it between two projectiles. Just a thought though, as dual decals would figure into the bullet holes. Maybe dual slugs with 0 spread would work better in the long run.
udk115modder
Yeah, yeah, maybe! Sounds all good, honestly, I didn't expect for the shells to be able to come out of both sides, given the engine limitations. I figure you could make it use two projectiles with like zero spread as well. I figure for sound, it could be the normal .45 gunshot but twice, as in both are layered into the same sound, a simple thing that could be do in audacity, I imagine. devinpatterson
Yeah, yeah, maybe! Sounds all good, honestly, I didn't expect for the shells to be able to come out of both sides, given the engine limitations. And in all honesty I don't really know for sure. It may be that you can have two nodes, I just tend to err on the side of caution because I'v never done it before. I figure you could make it use two projectiles with like zero spread as well. I'm very curious to see what kind of grouping (using this for a lack of a better term) the real pistol has. Anyway I'll probably start lookign in a day or two, getting over a little bug currently. I figure for sound, it could be the normal .45 gunshot but twice, as in both are layered into the same sound, a simple thing that could be do in audacity, I imagine. Sounds like a plan. devinpatterson
Hmmmm so I poked around a bit on the web and came across this article on the web (GUN REVIEW: ARSENAL AF2011-A1 DOUBLE BARREL .45ACP), I just skimmed it but there are a few things I picked up right away to make realistic stats and some game balance. These two excerpts of the article indicate, to me, that the af2011 has relatively low health and a high minimum strength stat; The first time I spied the AF2011-A1 TTAGâs Dan Zimmerman was trying â and failing â to lock the dual .45âs titanic slide back. When he handed me the gun, a hard push/pull action did the trick. Then we shot it. After a few rounds downrange I tried to lock the F2011-A1âs double-wide slide back. No more mocking The Big D. It took three large adult men to do the job â and that was only if the hammer was cocked and the magazine was out. The AF2011-A1 is the firearm version of Mjolnir; only the worthy can wield it, and damn few are worthy. and I used the supplied, and required, handy tool to disassemble the weapon. I coated it in Machine Gunnerâs Lube. After re-assembly and a sturdy push/pull, the AF2011-A1âs slide locked back. It was still difficult, but it didnât require the favored son of Asgard to make the weapon function. Unfortunately, after about 100 rounds of firing (50 trigger pulls), it was right back to stuck. Breakdown, lube, fire another 100. Stuck. Call it a day. So those are two ways to balance the power of dual 45 projectiles in the game. In addition it's spread is not great; Most of the time, at 10 yards off a bag, the spread between the rounds was about 3/4 of an inch center to center. But every couple of magazines one round was as much as 4â³ center to center. How do you measure accuracy from a gun that fires two rounds at once? I shot consistent 5â³ groups at 15 yards off the bag. At 25 yards, where I like to measure accuracy, the spread was too large and too inconsistent to yield any kind of âproperâ measurement. If you try very carefully, you can get all 10 rounds into the 12â³ by 12â³ paper at 25 yards off a front bag. Interestingly, off the bag, just about all of the twinned groups were fairly horizontal. When you shoot standing with a two-handed grip, the rounds rarely hit the paper in a horizontal line. They were almost always at a diagonal, some more than others. Which indicates to me, we should defintely go with two projectiles with spread. So I think those three stats should help balance the weapon and prevent it from being too over powered. It's essentially two 1911s with one grip and one slide, so the .45 semi auto is our obvious choice for a model (don't think there was ever any real doubt about that one). I'll start mucking about with the model next time I fire up blender.
udk115modder
Geez, thanks mate! And yeah, it all sounds good! Yeah, I didn't figure that the gun would be that reliable, since I heard it is a rather shitty gun at least irl according to my mates when mucking about in killing floor 2. Really wished I could have made it myself, since it seems doable. Then I f*#@ed up the install for blender, so bleh. But either way, at the very least, even if this doesn't get made, thanks for taking an interest mate!
