Halo1360
It seems that Windows vista screwed me over once again in modding, I just barely found out I needed to make an .egm file for my helmet to not be sideways, however there is one problem with that. It saved the .egm to Nifskope and when I looked in the Nifskope folder guess what I found out? That Windows explorer on vista cannot see .egm files so I can't move it to my fallout directory to fix my helmet! Can anyone by any chance refer to me to some plugin for windows or something that will let me see the .egm file so I can get on with my mod creation? prensa
Halo1360 - Hello! "I just barely found out I needed to make an .egm file for my helmet to not be sideways" Yes, .egm files tell the game how to display the hat. If your hat is just a renamed & retextured version of a vanilla one already in the game you can use the original .egm as long as you rename it to whatever your new hat .nif is called. The .egm also has to go into the same folder as the new hat .nif. Very important, once you've added the hat in GECK, to go to the top of GECK & select - Characters - Update FaceGen model availability & save your plugin. I missed that step & wondered for a while why my hat model had hair clipping through it. :) "however there is one problem with that. It saved the .egm to Nifskope and when I looked in the Nifskope folder guess what I found out? That Windows explorer on vista cannot see .egm files so I can't move it to my fallout directory to fix my helmet!" Are you sure it saved it to that folder? If windows Vista can't open the .egm (That's normal, Win7 doesn't either) you should still see the file there. It just wouldn't hide the .egm extension. If it's in there but hidden all you'd do is go to Tools - Folder Options - View & tick "show hidden files........." Seems unlikely it would be hidden though. Are you sure Vista saved it to where you're looking? If you're trying to save within a protected folder like Program files Vista/Win7 will redirect it elswhere. It will appear to be saved but will actually end up redirected to a hidden folder outside of Program files. Try saving the .egm into an unprotected folder like Downloads & see if it shows up. Hope this helps! Prensa
