Hyoukage
Ok... I'm sure everyone who's played Broken Steel for Fallout 3 has thought, "I want that as my home base!", am I right? However, at the end of the job, they close off almost the entire thing, if not all of it. I'm speaking, mind you, of the Enclave Mobile Base Crawler. In the Capitol Wasteland, parking space is a premium we can ill-afford. In the Mojave... well... not so much. More open places in the Mojave than you could shake a Deathclaw Gauntlet at. So, I figure, why not make a small (figuratively speaking) port? Park yourself a nice big crawler, packed with more armor than you'd care to consider, in one of them wide open spaces... like the Ivanpah Dry Lake? It'd make for a rather distinct player base, right? And if ya run out of room in there, you have some major issues. That, or you turned the bottom 3 floors into a Battlemech hanger... Furthermore, with some minor extras (like a couple howitzers) you could have a nice fire support option for those emergency situations. TheVampireDante
If the crawler is included in the New Vegas BSA files, then go ahead with this. If not - then you'd have to make something from scratch, as you are not allowed to port it over.

Admittedly an absolutely massive port, but one none-the-less.
TheVampireDante
It requires you to own both games as it doesn't provide any of the files from Fallout 3 itself.
Deleted2547005User
I know for a fact that the none of the BSA for New Vegas contain any of the resources for the Mobile Crawler.
Hyoukage
I know for a fact that the none of the BSA for New Vegas contain any of the resources for the Mobile Crawler. Well... that bites... And I couldn't piece together a good base model for a crawler for New Vegas if I tried.Ain't got the skills, or talent, for it. Any chance for someone to find/make a base crawler resource for this? Hyoukage
Hrm... AH! Got an idea, though it wouldn't match the Enclave Mobile Base Crawler anytime soon, in either size, or available space inside... I was out in Quarry Junction, busting up the local Deathclaw populous via judicious use of high-yield and nuclear warheads. (Read: "High-Explosive Missiles" and "Tiny Tot Mini-Nukes") Now, it is a little-known fact, but when one is running enhanced health levels for all NPCs and the Courier via Project Nevada, it can take awhile to kill even a Baby Deathclaw. So I had parked myself on top of one of the many excavator cranes. Middle of battle, I realize "Hey! Someone could use the BSA resources used for these handy excavators to make their own crawler!", of course, immediately afterwards, I decided to drop a console line for a big pile of Big Kid Mini-Nukes and start an extensive nuclear salvo. Thankfully, my PC's recently upgraded hardware was enough to prevent a CTD.. though I never did find the Mother Deathclaw's head... I did find her arse wedged into one of the upper pulleys on one of the larger cranes in the area. Admittedly, I decided to wait awhile for the radiation levels to drop back to their basic background levels so as to avoid any "ghoulifying" issues... like excessive radiation exposure. That, and it took me a bit to climb down from my high perch... jumping from 5 stories off the ground, even with a maxed out "Safe Falling Height" in place, can cause some major injuries. Hyoukage
In regards to my prior entry, if anyone does decide to use the resource archives that're responsible for those excavator cranes, I'd recommend using the larger cranes, as they have more potential internal space than the smaller ones do. yungskiz
glad i saw this, are ports of mods (for my idea, the more i think on it the less possible it seems) for other games ok? i mean a mod from oblivion ported into nv, i asked the creator of the oblivion mod about it, and ive yet to get an answer (if he could even do it)
Hyoukage
It IS possible to port mods, from what I've seen. Though, as previously stated, I've near-nonexistent skills in modding. And I don't see the reason behind the whole anti-port thing, as people run mod ports and the like a lot. Even so... I'm still waiting on seeing a base crawler, whether made in a manner worthy of the Enclave, or looking like it just trundled its' way out of Quarry Junction, I don't rightly care.
