MidbossVyers
So if I bought the disc copy of Skyrim, and I went on a cruise with my laptop without Internet connection, would I still be able to play and mod Skyrim?
TheVampireDante
Put Steam in offline mode. If no connection is detected it should offer that mode eventually anyway.
RyrMyrByr
You would start Steam in offline mode.
GeohoundJason
What the others said. You only need the internet to ACTIVATE Skyrim, after that you don't have to be online. Steam is in online mode by default and it can be a little tricky to find Offline Mode with a connection, which can cause the confusion. As Dante said, it will give you the choice to start it in Offline mode if there is no connection available.
danabsr
There seems to be a new Steam release. I cannot get offline option for Skyrim or FOLV which used to allow it. Â I hate Steam... :pirate:
SmilingAhab
So if I bought the disc copy of Skyrim, and I went on a cruise with my laptop without Internet connection, would I still be able to play and mod Skyrim? I have the disk copy too. The only time you have to be online is for the initial registration. After that, if you fail to put your Steam in offline mode, it will not allow you to play after you are somewhere with no connection. Also, Steam has to be online to update, because Bethsoft does all their patches though Steam now.  And unlike what GeoHoundJason said, you have to be connected and online in order to go into offline mode. It's the most stupid thing ever, but it would seem that the option doesn't come up if one cannot connect. If this is a problem with my setup, more power to you, but I've seen it in a lot of places.  Not really liking this setup, but if it's the road Bethesda wants to take, it's the road they take. deadlyassassin83
Why is it that just because someone says they hate steam someone almost always assumes that they are a pirate? I believe tho unless you have proof hes doing anything Illegal you can't do jack crap to them.I really hate how people assume that everyone is a pirate just because they refuse to accept this mainstream crap that is steam-Now before all you steam freaks start bashing me because you hate my opinion well I have two words for ya shove it because my reason for hating steam is this. 1.) this is my computer and I will update things that need updated. 2.) I hate programs that force you to update things even Microsoft doesn't force you to chew on update from them. 3.) I refuse to use another program to play a game that's just not right. 4.) if and when steam gets hacked all you people with steam accounts who buy all their games from steam will kick and scream because you put your faith in the wrong thing. 4.) I'd prefer to update my own games because, that way I can do some checking up on the update before I'm forced to chew on it. 5.) steam sucks my internet up and spits it out making it damn near impossible to play the game I just bought. I bought left for dead 1 and 2 and I couldn't even play them because of steam. steam is screwing with me and my pc collection I won't buy another pc game because Fallout New Vegas forced you to chew on steam and I said Fck that. MidbossVyers
So... I shouldn't get Skyrim? The main reason I play offline stuff is when I can't get online. Why would I play something that I expect to be offline but actually needs online to play offline? WTF?
ita
If you plan on being somewhere where you can't get online, log onto Steam beforehand and set it to offline. Problem solved.
