stebbinsd
There are mods out there that reduce or eliminate affinity cooldown periods. There are mods out there than increase or even decrease the rate at which companions gain affinity from your actions. However, these mods apply their multipliers to ALL affinity actions, across the board. For example, I don't buy for a minute that Preston would idolize me just because I spent the past four minutes swapping a pair of weapon mods out for each other, back and forth. Yet that is exactly what can happen if I eliminate affinity cooldown periods. By contrast, it makes perfect sense that Preston would idolize me if I spammed Minutemen radiant quests. I also think some people's affinity should go up faster than others. I'm far more willing to accept Preston's or Piper's willingness to trust me than ... say ... Cait's. Cait should be one of the most cynical companions in the game because of her backstory, but if I get myself a mod that increases companion affinity gains, it will increase their gains for everyone, whether that affinity gain is in-character or not. I'd like a mod that lets me set companion affinity gains, losses, and cooldown periods however I choose, and make it unique for each companion. Have some master sliders for affinity gain, affinity loss, and cooldown periods that would apply to all the companions and all the various actions I can do. But at the same time, let me have sliders for each individual companion and each individual action, giving me the option of setting these actions to increase or decrease their affinity by up to 100 points and have a cooldown period from 0 seconds to 168 in-game hours (aka 1 in-game week). The master sliders, meanwhile, would adjust affinity loss, affinity gain, and cooldown by +/- 100%. Let me eliminate the cooldown periods for things that it makes sense a companion would like infinite amounts of (such as agreeing to help settlers) while still retaining the cooldown periods for things that can be spammed, such as modding weapons or entering power armor. Let me increase affinity gains for things companions should like a lot more than they actually do, like Paladin Danse gaining the same affinity for a repeatable BoS quest as you gain for a repeatable Minutemen quest, despite him owing an allegiance to the former. So for example, I could set Preston to gain 50 points of affinity for me accepting a Minutemen quest, and have a cooldown period of 0 seconds. I could then set it so Preston only gives me 2 point of affinity for modding a weapon an a 168 hour cooldown. With the master sliders, I can set affinity gains to -50% and cooldowns to +100%. Then Preston would give me 25 points of affinity per Minutemen quest but still have no cooldown (because 0 seconds times 2 is still 0 seconds), and only give me 1 point of affinity for modding a weapon with a 2-week cooldow. And more importantly, let me save these affinity settings and load them across multiple games, so I don't have to tediously set each affinity every time I start a new game.
