SKSE launcher doesn't load my Nexus mods

I'm playing on the Skyrim Special Edition and have only downloaded special edition mods. I have about 6 downloaded including SkyUI, which is a necessity for me. However whenever I launch the game through the SKSE launcher, SkyUI is the only mod that loads, not the better blood, or unread books glowing or anything; they don't appear in the MCM menu either. When I launch the game from steam through the standard launcher, all the mods are present but of course SkyUI is buggy and slow. So my options are a modded Skyrim SE with a broken or no SkyUI or SKSE and SkyUI but no mods. I am not a great modder and not great with diagnostics or commands or anything so any help would be very appreciated.
