iHaze34
So what's the trick? Whenever I take a basic picture ingame, it ends up being over 4mb. The only way I can keep it 1.5 and under is if I make the screen resolution 1024x768, but yet I see other image posters with a bigger resolution. The shot saved from the game usually are ,BMP (uncompressed type image) if you want a smaller image you hade to convert the image as Jpg (5-600K) ;)
Tidus44
How are you taking a picture and what is its format? BMP, JPG, PNG or ?? Convert it to JPG (I just use Paint) and it should be OK. Edited April 22, 2012 by Tidus44
fms1
I don't take a lot of screenies but the ones I have are under 1mb on 1920x1080p took by pressing F12, I don't know if this will be larger with high res. textures or not. CarlCorey
F12 takes a "Steam Screenshot". I don't know what that is since I never play with Steam in online mode. The wiki says that F12 "Takes a screenshot that is saved to the Steam screenshots folder. Hotkey can only be configured through Steam settings." I just use the Prt Sc key which saves a BMP file in the ...\Steam\SteamApps\common\skyrim folder. At 1600x900, my sceenshots are 4.1M, but like everone else has said, a quick trip through Paint (or IrfanView or GIMP ...) to convert to JPG and you should be able to get it down to size.
