vicki08
Good evening, everyone!I am downloading mods for a DAO playthrough, and as I haven't really used mods yet (switched over from console), I am curious about whether or not it is possible to alternate between mods as I go through the game. Specifically, I have the Natural Bodies All-In-One mod, which I think will work well for certain scenes in which clothing always seemed out of place. However, for other scenes and general use, I am curious if I can use tmp7704's Human Female Proportion Fix and Improved Underwear. If I uninstall one setup and install the other, will my game be displeased, leaving me with an unpleasant mess of a character? Has anyone tried swapping out mods with success? Thanks in advance, y'all! Victoria
valerie1972
Generally speaking item mods will, at worst, leave you naked when you load your game if you uninstall the mod while you're wearing it. Proportions fix changes the armor mesh, not the body mesh, so it should work fine with Natural Bodies or Improved Underwear. Natural Bodies and Improved Underwear should be easy enough to swap between without any problem. One thing you'll want to be sure of is that when you uninstall Natural Bodies with the mod manager, also make sure that the folder (called "NBaio") is removed from your override folder or you may have conflict. vicki08
Thank you so much for responding, valerie!I didn't realize that Natural Bodies and the proportions mod should work together, which is awesome, as I will only have to swap out between NB and IU. Less fuss! Thanks again!
Thandal
Note: The "Proportions" mod will not be active when a character isn't wearing armour/robes, and NBaio and Improved Underwear can't both be active at the same time. Only one will work, the one loaded last by alphanumeric folder/filename order. (As Valerie said, swapping between the two should work fine.) theskymoves
Deleted because urgh... my brain doesn't work well enough to properly explain anything. :wallbash: Nothing to see here, move along. Edited April 9, 2018 by theskymoves
Thandal
@tsm; I had the same feeling. I started to write the full explanation and realized that unless one had a lot more experience with mods in one's "\override" folder vs. ".override" mods, it would get waaaaay too complicated. (Maybe it would have been better to just say, "Swap them when you want to switch" and be done with it. ) I will say that in my own experience, the few times that things look really inappropriate when NBaio is running (now that the Brecilian Forest Werewolves' transition is patched in the vanilla game) hardly seem worth the trouble to swap mods. Especially since the first time through one wouldn't know what was coming. My personal LOL moment came in RtO when crossing the bridge from the Camp location to the Tower of Ishal side and encountering what the Darkspawn "displayed" there.
valerie1972
Yes, RtO with nude mods can be... eye-opening.
vicki08
Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to respond to my question! I also appreciate the simpler explanations, as I am still a pretty green mod user. I would love to learn the more technical bits, though just downloading all the mods and trying to make them all work together is keeping me pretty busy for now! I must say, y'all have now made me very curious about the RtO scenes; I may have to keep NBaio active, just to see... Thanks again; y'all are awesome! vicki08
Hi, Thandal!Yes, I did read through that site, but thank you for sending it over! It actually was a big help because when I first started trying to use manually installed mods. Originally, I began with using the Nexus Mod Manager program. I thought that seemed like a simpler option, since I couldn't really get DAMM to work, and I found a lot of instructions tended to lack the step-by-step I needed as a newbie. However, the Mod Manager didn't work out so well, once I started downloading conflicting mods. I had to uninstall everything and start from scratch, learning the manual installation process along the way. Oh well- it's been fun to learn, and every time I get things to work, I am very excited! The link you sent over, in particular, makes far more sense now. I am still pretty terrible with some things like the toolset and DAMM, although I do have NBaio working, so I am moving in the right direction at least! However, I am trying to work through things as much as I can on my own, so that I only pester everyone with very specific questions. Thanks so much for asking! I appreciate you reaching out!
