Local Map SUCK

There are great options to replace and expand Bethesda's lame worldmap... so why don't the local maps ever get any love? Is there some technical reason?

Caves and ruins should be disorganized and organic, but most of the layouts of the city layouts themselves are none too clear, and it doesn't help in either case when the map seems designed more to confuse than clarify. It'd be great to have legible maps of each cave, castle, and keep, but I know that's a big task- so what about just the cities?

I can't even figure out what their approach was to those designs, but I can't be the only one who finds it nearly impossible to find my way around Windhelm.

 

Any brave modders ready to step up to this challenge?
