kurt91
After the Skyrim SE update a few days ago, I had a bit of a tricky time figuring out how to handle updating things. I hadn't realized to block automatic updates, so I figured just updating SKSE64 would be the easiest approach. However, I then found out that immediately updating would break mods like ECE. I ended up having to roll things back to a matching version, and then wait to update things myself when all of my mods were ready to update. Since Vortex is designed for beginner users, they probably won't know from experience which of the many mods they've downloaded requires the corresponding script extender. It would be nice if there was some sort of immediate visual cue, whether it be an icon or text color, to indicate that a mod requires the script extender specifically. Since we already have a quick and easy link to the mod's page available, it would speed up the process since people would immediately know how many mods and which mods to check to know whether it's better to update or stay put. A more specific example: Alongside ECE, I also picked out MoreHUD and Quick Loot. At the time that things were an issue, ECE needed an older version of SKSE64, while MoreHUD and Quick Loot both required the newest version. I was going to have to decide which of the two types of mods I wanted to keep, and which I would do without. (Was going to. Things came up, and by the time I actually had time to start tinkering with things, all of the necessary updates were ready to just update everything to the newest version) While I doubt that Vortex would be able to innately know that updating SKSE64 will break existing mods, visually identifying extender-dependent mods would speed up the process to deal with the issue manually. sekoms
you can add a highlight flag to each mod in your list and the color and icon can be customized.
