The Doomguide sighed heavily, though it was more of a forceful huff of air let out in irritation, "Long story short, he broke Nawen's heart and lost what little trust I had left in him. The trouble he causes far outweighs what benefits he gives us. There is no point in putting up with his presence any longer...he seems to have a deathwish anyway."

"Bad idea getting involved in all of that." Azuris said with a sigh. "Best to let those two deal with the problem themselves, as long a they're not fighting each other I'm happy. They're both adults, they don't need other people trying to fix their issues after all."

Rhaine threw her hands into the air, "What, and let him do this to my best friend, Azuris? Nawen has been with me since the beginning of this journey...she's one of the closest friends I've ever had...like a sister to me. I told him that I would not tolerate him hurting her and here he has done just that! And he did it on purpose out of some twisted sense of mercy!"

"I know she's important to you, but, did you really think they would have a happy ending or something? We all say this coming, maybe it's better that it ended this soon, whatever the reasons were." He said with a shrug.

As Nephis entered the common room Llhunarra did a poor job of hiding her stare. Scanning the woman and her elegant attire, the rogue couldn’t stop her fingers from twitching. Whether it be the gold, the pearls or the fine material that hinted at even more wealth stored elsewhere she was unsure, her hands gripping the half eaten apple she had been enjoying tightly as to lessen the way her digits so anxiously convulsed. Before meeting up with this group she had been doing quite well to keep items from falling into her possession. Even Menarses elaborate estate had not tempted her that much yet, mainly because the establishment was to the benefit of all her new found companions.

This woman on the other hand seemed to have an excess of personal wealth that benefited no one other than herself. Another assumption about yet another new arrival, but in this case she felt it quite a fair one. Blinking a little as she realizes she was still staring so she refocuses with a small shake of her head. Looking to the piratess she wanted to yell out to the female, but jumping the woman in the open would never work. Perhaps the two of them could discuss a way to release her of some possession later, when not so many eyes and ears were present. Llhunarra didn’t mind sharing loot if it was plentiful enough.

"Surprised? Oh don't be, dear, I seldom entertain the presence of adventurers such as yourself." Nephis chuckled indulgently to herself, the sound a slight reverberation against the chamber walls "I usually grace the feasts of great nobles and priests, but you have piqued my interest enough to draw me from the inner chambers. Consider yourselves blessed." A small lopsided smile graced the Conjurer's features, as she retracted her hands from around Mensares' chest, Settling rather for the place at his side. With her legs crossed elegantly beneath her, the water like folds of her ethereal gown billowed out around her, adding yet more raw presence to the flames of her aura.

The wordless stares of the rest of the party were like sacrificial lamb offered up in praise, feeding her divinity and assuring their devotion; what a wondrous feeling, to be revered. Provoking such a reaction was... Addictive to say the least. Not all eyes were exclusively tinged with wonder, for the copper haired elf had desire burning behind her; Nephis had seen such a lust for avarice in the eyes of bandits. Just before said brigands suffered a swift and magnificent death, of course.

"Ah Imhiros, of course I remember him! It is hard to forget the self righteous tools of Osiris. He was right about the party though. Tell me, dear foreigners, will you be staying for the festival?"

Amendale took the hand offere to him and gave it a solid shake. "Think nothing of it, Nydeshka. I'm Amendale, as I've said. Good to see you up and about at last."

As Rhaine continued to talk with Azuris, she snorted, “Maybe I just had the foolish hope that she would somehow change him.”

"Doubt it," he scoffed. "Hells, what if he changed her? Think that'd be worse than him simply breaking it off with her."

“True,” she sighed again, putting her head in her hands. She stood there like that for a few moments before adding, “Gods…it’s so difficult to know what to do sometimes.”

“Welcome to the leadership role,” Azuris grunted. “Sometimes… it really is best to just let things happen I guess,” He then said with a shrug.

Her eyes flashed, "I can't...just do that. Not with people like him." She jerked her thumb at the tavern door, "He's drunk, by the way. So gods help us if he decides to go revenge-mad on us. I can only imagine what he's thinking right now with what...I know about him."

Meanwhile, just as those words came out of Rhaine’s mouth, Tannin sat on the floor in the bar room, gazing up at the ceiling, and spoke aloud. “I miss my ship… I want it back,” he said miserably before taking another drink from a bottle.

Azuris sighed again, “Yeah well, pissing him off probably isn’t the best idea either; you’ve seen him fight after all. Don’t want that going up against us or anything.”

Rhaine crossed her arms, “He made the mistake of angering me first. He knew he would catch my ire for what he did…he always knows. I’m beginning to feel I’m being purposely provoked. I don’t like that.”

“Maybe… not? Maybe it’s not due to a malicious nature… maybe he’s just a moron?” He asked with a small chuckle.

She opened her mouth as if to respond, closed it, opened it again, and then smiled weakly. “That’s…probably true.”

"You did say he was drunk after all," he said motioning to the bar room. “But regardless, maybe it’d be best to wait till he sobers up before making any decisions. People do and say weird things after all when they’re drunk, Hells... I think I can sing after a few too many bottles,” he grunted with a slight shudder.

She laughed, "And what kind of songs do you sing, Azuris? Somehow I can't imagine you belting out bawdy tavern ballads."

Azuris shot her a look that plainly displayed his hatred of the topic. “Not gonna say,” he grunted.

Rhaine cocked her head at him, “You’re far too grouchy for your own good, you know that, right?”

“Yup. And just think… I used to be worse.”

She chuckled, but her mirth faded quickly. The Doomguide looked off into the distance for a moment, sighed once more, and then said, “You remember when you hugged me back in Westgate?”

"Yeah?" Azuris said with an arched brow.

Rhaine’s lips pressed tightly together, the corners of her mouth turned down as she glanced at the toes of her boots, “I think I need another.”

“If I give you one you promise you’ll try and clear the air with the drunk in there and let Nawen deal with it?” He asked, jerking his thumb at the bar room, “Cause that’d be for the best there.”

She narrowed her eyes, "You're evil."

“You ain’t seen nothing yet,” he said before walking down to the end of the hall. “LUCAS!” He called out, waiting a moment before the young squire appeared.

“Um wh...what is it?” Lucas asked in a confused tone, not at all knowing what evil was about to befall him. Azuris then took him by the shoulder and pushed him towards Rhaine. “Hug her, she needs one,” he said with a small smirk on his face before walking away, leaving Lucas even more confused and growing red in the face.

“Are.. Uhh.. Is every… thing okay?” He managed to spit out as he turned to Rhaine.

Waves of varying degrees of confusion crossed her countenance, resulting in a raised brow and a slightly open mouth as Azuris disappeared. She then glanced to Lucas and replied, “Not…exactly. No. It isn’t.”

“Oh…. I see… Umm… Then I uhh...I guess then I could… H…hug you… if that’s alright I mean,” Lucas stuttered out, his face turning brighter and brighter with every stutter.

She chuckled, “Of course it’s all right…but only if you want to. You look like you’re about to explode…”

“Uhh… Yeah, sorry… I umm...Heat… and umm. Stuff….it’s hot here you know.” He laughed nervously. “I would uhhh… I’d be h...happy to…” he said as he awkwardly raised his arms ups.

Rhaine smiled and closed the gap first, wrapping her arms around him in a sisterly hug. They were followed by her wings, which lightly reached forward to enclose the squire in a gentle embrace. Lucas had hoped that he would be able to remain calm during the hug, and while he didn’t freak out like he feared, he did instead freeze up, and could barely force himself to put his arms around her.

“I’m I’m… I’m...n-n not…Used to hu …hugs …sorry.” He managed to squeak out.

Her brow furrowed as she pushed him back and held him by the shoulders, squinting at him, “Squire…whatever do you mean?”

“Ah... Umm… I mean… not from… anyone who’s n not... Family... or... You know,” he said bashfully.

“Awww,” Rhaine scoffed, pulling him back to her and holding him tighter, “We are family, silly. Why is it you always get so nervous around me, of all people? The only time you weren't really was that night you spoke to me of worries.”

“Yeah I... I know… I just… I dunno,” said Lucas as she pulled him in tighter. “I’m... I’ nervous around a lot of people…N... Not just you.”

She pulled away and squeezed his shoulders firmly, “Well…if there’s anything I can do to put your mind at ease, please tell me.”

“No no… I’ll... I’ll I’ll be fine, “he nodded. “Just... Not… still not used to nice people is a...is all.”

She gave him a slight smile that was tinged with a look of pity, “That is a shame, squire. Now,” she reached up and ruffled his hair playfully, “Be a good boy and go fetch Azuris back here, will you?”

“Yeah… right.” Lucas said before he started to walk back down the hall to find Azuris.

It was a few minutes before Azuris came back while wearing a barely noticeable smirk. “Had to, sorry.”

Rhaine raised an eyebrow, “What was that all about?”

“Just a little bit of fun.” Azuris shrugged. “The kid’s too shy for his own good.”

“Indeed,” she replied, “I can’t help but fear for him a little, come time for the festival. Speaking of which,” she rubbed the back of her neck and winced, “This practice has been more intense, I think, than any training I ever received back home. Gods, by the time every session is over I feel like I’ve been run over by a chariot.”

“You’ll be fine, just use some spells and the soreness will go away,” Azuris stated in a matter of fact tone.

“Pah!” she snorted, “Let’s twist you into a pastry roll every day and see what you say.”

“No thank you, I’m not the flexible type,” he grunted.

A mischievous glint lit in Rhaine’s eyes as she teased, “Oh…really?”

“Yes, really,” he said, folding his arms. “And no, I’m not going to demonstrate.”

“Well,” she sidled closer, all the while thinking that his calling Lucas to her was an excuse not to hug her, “Considering I haven’t slain the demonic half-drow in there,” she paused, giving him a sly look as she laid a hand on his thick arm, “I think you owe me at least a little something…”

“You think you deserve something because you haven’t murdered a fellow party member?” He asked with an arched brow.

She leaned back and gave him a sharp glare, “You implied I would get a hug if I ‘cleared the air’ with Tannin. I consider ‘clearing the air’ not entering it.”

“I consider it making sure he doesn’t kill us all in our sleep.”

She sighed heavily, throwing her hands in the air, “Fine. If I go in there, will you be satisfied?”

“That or promise to talk to him later. You can wait till he sobers up.”

“Yes, well,” she crossed her arms, “I honestly feel better that he’s drunk.” She then turned and headed back for the tavern door, “I think this is a bad idea, but…well. I’ll just tell him you suggested it.” Giving him one last mischievous wink, she then reentered the bar.

“Good,” he nodded, watching as she walked back into bar before walking behind her and shutting the door, then leaning up against it to keep it closed.

Deciding not to hold anything back, Rhaine looked down at Tannin, who was still on the floor, and said, “Azuris wanted me to come back and make sure you won’t murder us all in our sleep. I don’t know what in the Hells I’m supposed to say to make that happen, but here I am.”
