Michaeljcox24
Been having random ctd's and freezing for over a couple of weeks now, and it's getting very, very annoying. There is never any logical time it happens, just a crash to desktop or a freeze wth apphang error in tesv, exe Mod list (yes sorry, I know it's a bit long) A Quality world map Apachii Hair Auto Unequip Arrows Better Females Calientes Body Calientes Vanilla Armour Craftable Triss Armour Crimson Tide Dungeon Quest Awareness Enhanced Distant |Terrain Feminine Running Finer Dust Glowing Arrows Glowing ore Veins Height Adjusted Races High Quality Eyes Immersive Thunder Improved NPC Clothing Improved NPC Clothing Expansion Pack KenMod Lock picking Lanterns on the Roads Lush Grass Lush Trees Compatibility Patch Lush Trees Midas Magic Oblivious Shadowmere Eisen Platte CBBE Inner Wear CBBE Shadow Striping Fix Flora Overhaul Flora Overhaul Snowy Pine 2K Dungeons 2K Landscapes 2K Misc 2K Towns Monster Mod Sounds of Skyrim Dungeons Sounds of Skyrim Wilds Static Mesh Torches for Realistic Lighting Triss Outfit Unofficial Skyrim Patch W.A.T.E.R Thanks to anyone who can help, and you live in the UK, I'll buy you a crate of beer! Cataxu
Sounds of Skyrim can cause CTDs, it was very poorly made. I would suggest uninstalling that first. Most of your mods are simple texture packs. . .have you made any changes to the ini? Ugrids=7 for instance? I'm not sure if the shadow striping fix is incompatible with Realistic Colours & Nights, but you should ask at his nexus page. I only mention it because I've since removed it though that may have been due to another lighting overhaul. Michaeljcox24
Well, 99% of the time the crash happens when I am in an exterior cell, which would make sense. It's never happened in an interior one. Will also remove shadow striping fix. I've got ugrids to 7, but the crashes happened when they were at 5 too. guffeh
Just speaking from my experience: I ran into a part of the world that would always cause a CTD. Started the testing process of removing individual mods to find out which one was the cause. Ended up that W.A.T.E.R was problem. Possibly because of an incompatibility with another mod (hi-res texture packs), or another mod overwrote some files for W.A.T.E.R. I don't know. In any case, I removed W.A.T.E.R, tested successfully (no CTD) and reinstalled W.A.T.E.R. After the reinstall, everything worked fine. I was able to load the cell that had previously caused me to CTD.
Michaeljcox24
It doesn't happen in any specific place in my case, its just completely random, which is the most annoying
Michaeljcox24
Extensive testing last night yielded that the mod I was using for lighting 'realistic lighting and realistic colours' was incompatible with Afterburner, and I needed to upgrade to the latest beta and enable comparability with modified 'dx9 runtime libraries' Not single crash in 3 hours. SO. I beefed up the graphics to the nvidia tweaks recommended on geforce.com, and using 301 beta drivers, I was crashing every 5 mins. Restoring the tweaks to the max available in nvidia control panel stopped the crashes. Ironically, ugrids 7 was rock solid stable. Also cards run a lot cooler. Not saying everyone's situation will be the same as mine, but if you've used the recommended settings from geforce.com, be careful because in my case, they made the game hugely unstable with the latest drivers.
