Trouble with custom weapon blood effects

I'm working on a custom 1 handed axe, and I'm trying to get blood effects to show up properly for my custom mesh. I used the steel war axe as the vanilla nif to insert my new meshes and textures into.

 

So far the mesh works fine in game, texture maps for the axe are correctly applied. But no blood. I created meshes for the blood effects even naming them the same as the vanilla in 3ds... and I used nifscope to insert the new meshes into the hierarchy according to the steps in this video

 

 

Trouble is, I get nothing at all. When I kill dudes with my new 1 handed axe there is no blood effect. Any suggestions were to start looking, or if anybody has successfully made a blood custom effect could they share their process?

When i edited swords i saw in nofskope a different mesh from the sword with a uniqe name "edgeblood:0" something like that. dont know if it works\helps. why wont you copy something that works like the ebony sword. Edited by majistik

Those (usually 2) 'blood' meshes for each weapon also have their own BSShader properties, and not just the texture is different. I'll assume that you've already tried to apply the blood mesh BSShader properties from a working weapon onto the 'bloody' parts of yours using nifskope?
