SomaticDefilement92
I'm a new user, and have a fairly good idea of how to use NMM, I've installed the mods I want, activated them in the "Data Files" section of the launcher, but it seems that, whenever I click play, it gets past the "Bethesda" logo and flashes the title screen before closing to my desktop? There are no errors involved and it seems that it's going to continue to be a recurring problem, does anyone know what's going on? Just to clarify, I had problems with the "Data Files" section of the launcher being blanked out and un-clickable, so I added the line "bEnableFileSelection=1" into the SkyrimPrefs.ini file to activate it, and it seems that this problem only cropped up after I had made that change. I'm running Windows 7, if that has any particular impact on anyone's response. Thanks in advance for any help given. The mods I have installed at the moment are: Dragon Falls Manor, Dread Knight Weapon Set, Follower Wander, Leveler's Tower, Riverside Lodge, SpousesCanLiveEverywhere, UFO (Ultimate Follower Overhaul), Unique Region Names. If any of this information is irrelevant, please just disregard it in your response, I'm giving as much information as possible just to be safe. Thank you. Rennn
I suppose UFO might conflict with Follower Wander. or SpousesCanLiveAnywhere Try disabling all three of them temporarily and see if that's the problem. If it is, you should be able to choose which one(s) to activate. Try removing the line from the .ini temporarily as well, to see if that fixes it. If it does, look to see if an identical line already exists in the .ini and just switch that to =1 if it does. I removed both Follower Wander and SpousesCanLiveEverywhere (in hindsight they seem like rather useless mods), but unfortunately the other six mods still aren't activating. I think it has something to do with the "Data Files" option in the launcher being dulled out, considering they're being depicted as add-on's, they could be automatically disabled upon launch due to the option being faded out? I removed the "bEnableFileSelection=1", and the game launches properly now, but I still have the problem of not being able to select the "Data Files" section of the launcher to activate the mods (entering that string seemed to fix that problem, but create the bug of the game crashing just as it got to the title screen). Any other suggestions?
Rennn
Okay, as you know now it's definitely a problem with that line in the .ini. Did you check to see if a line like that was already in the .ini? Having two otherwise identical lines with different settings could theoretically crash the game or stop it from loading. For me, these lines were already in the [Launcher] section of the Skyrimprefs.ini. [Launcher]bEnableFileSelection=1bShowAllResolutions=1uLastAspectRatio=4 The bottom two don't matter for this, but bEnableFileSelection=1 should be there, and there should be only one of those in the entire .ini. Yes, by the way, if the mods are grayed out in the launcher they don't activate. You can probably reinstall/reactivate Follower Wander and the SpousesCanLiveAnywhere mod, since those are apparently not the problem. Although, I have checked numerous times as to whether there was a duplicate string within the .ini but there isn't. So it must be something to do with that string? Is it an incorrect value? I see, the other two lines are obviously visually related, nothing to do with the actual launcher's function. I thought as much, but it seems that the only way to activate the "Data Files" section is to add the "bEnableFileSelection=1" into the .ini, but giving the result of a crash. Rennn
Which .ini are you editing? Both Skyrimprefs.ini files need to be edited correctly. There's one Skyrimprefs.ini in "My Documents\My Games\Skyrim\" and one in "Steam\Steamapps\Common\Skyrim\Skyrim\" Usually they're the same by default, but for a few people it's a problem. As far as I know, there is only one SkyrimPrefs.ini file on my computer. Yeah, I just did a search of my computer for "SkyrimPrefs.ini" and there's only one in existence on my computer. Swagness
I'm having the same problem try disabling UFO mod then start game that's what did now it loads. If that doesn't work disable each mod one at a time then load until you find which mod is stopping the load. I've had this problem with a few mods now.
