URGENT! is it safe to to rename an .esp file?

i have Claralux Light overhaul mod and custom player home Elysium Estate, both mod works with the patch claralux provided but when i try to sort it with LOOT, i was given an error that says Claralux elysium estate.esp plugin requires ElysiumeEstateSE.esp to be installed, but is is missing

and i found out that the current version of Elysium Estate mod is named ElysiumeEstateSSE.esp (with an extra S) so LOOT can't find it, is it safe if i just rename the file and remove the extra S? will the mod work and LOOT can sort it?

In this case: Renaming the mod shouldn't be a problem. Just try it. If it works, everything's okay. If it doesn't, change the name back to what it was originally. In any case it should'nt break your game.

Be careful though: If you already used Elysium estate and put your stuff in there, take it all back before and store it somewhere else. Otherwise you'll probably lose everything you left in the house because the game thinks the house no longer exists. Renaming is also critical with anything containing FaceGen data (i.e. any mod containing NPCs). Here you would have to rename the mod's subfolders in the FaceGen folders, too.

@ladyonthemoon: You're basically right. LOD might be a problem. Since renaming the esp would leave the mod's folder structure (with the exception of the FaceGen data) intact though, worst case should be that you have to redo LOD created with Dnydolod or SSELodgen.

I wouldnât rename it. Thereâs actually a straight forward way of changing a mods master files. Ou can do it through TES5Edit.

For a guide on how to do this go to the legendary edition patch on the Oldrim nexus. On the posts tab there is a guide on how to change masters. It doesnât specifically deal with the mod you mention but the rules are the same
