BeastlyBeast
I'm thinking about making a gambling/pub game for skyrim. I'd want to put a gamemaster in every city I possibly could. I'm going to start with Whiterun, and the gamemaster will likely be in the inn. I'm thinking it could be like a card game. There'd be no interface, which is where I may need help (scripting). I want to base how often you'd win on your speechcraft. So, later on when the gamemaster and the game structure is built, I may need help with that. I'd probably want it to be like if speeccraft is below 50, your chances of winning are like 45-55, and then if your speechcraft is higher than 50, it'd be a 55-45 chance. That way, for the most part it'd be random. I wanted to give the card game a name that would sound true to skyrim lore, so if anyone could help me think of the name of the game, that'd be great. I'm thinking this could be the game:There are three types of cards; Septim Cards, Dragon Cards and Dovahkin Cards. You get 4 cards. You only get one Septim card no matter what, and it's your choice between having 1 dragon card and 2 dovahkin cards, or vice versa. The object of the game is to place your Septim Card down before your opponent does, but you have to have gotten rid your three other cards first. And, one game is worth either 100 gold (low stakes) 500 gold (average stakes) 1500 gold (high stakes) or 3000 gold (veteran's stakes) Now what the cards do. A dragon card forces the opponent to grab a dragon card, and the dovah card gives the opponent the choices of either grabbing two dragon cards, or one Dovah card. Now, cards don't stack, but, if you have one or more of the type of card last placed by your opponent, you can bypass the penalty of the card, and give it to your opponent, by putting down either one or all of the cards. So, if you had 1 septiim, 2 dragon, and 4 dovah cards, and the last card placed by your opponent was a dovah card, you could place 1 or 4 dovah cards on the table, ridding you of cards, and forcing your opponent to accept the card's penalty. I think that's all I need to say about the game I may try to make. It'd certainly be hard, because I need to accomodate for all of the random chances based on 2 sets of cards. I may make it easier and let you only use one set of cards, and I may need to scratch the idea. But, it's the thought that counts. If anyone could help me make this mod, I'd appreciate it. :) Also, I think I'm going to add a relatively simple pub game as well. The game where you and the opponent roll the dice, and whoever rolled higher wins the money. That'd probably be quick, and not very immersive/exciting, but it'd still add to an aspect of skyrim that would only make the game more realistic. :) Lemme know what you think. BeastlyBeast
Here's a list of ideas I'm gonna try to add, starting tonight! Gamemasters, and the 'higher number wins' game. Corrupt Gamemasters. These are people scattered around Skyrim who claim they're gamemasters, and very well could be, but their sole purpose is not to gamble. It's to steal. They will trick you into giving them your money, and then try and make off with it, or they'll make you play a game that you always lose. These gamemasters can be killed, and you'll be able to get back your money, (and a little extra profit for your troubles if ya know what I mean...but you didn't hear it from me. :whistling:) LOL I'm also looking for some people who can help me make this mod. At least the real gambling games. I asked someone about basing how good you are at gambling on speechcraft, and I just found the whole idea too complicated. So, I'm going to do what he said about how the choices can be COMPLETELY random. It only involves GetRandomPercent conditions, and little to no scripting is needed. But, I may need some people to help me with all of the dialogue options. The game will involve a 10 sided dice, and whoever rolled the highest number wins the money. I am going in the direction of making what you rolled a random line of NPC dialogue, and the same goes for what the NPC rolled. If this is confusing, here's an example: --- Topic - *Roll* --- NPC Responses: You rolled 1. Now I'll roll/You rolled 2, Now, I'll roll/ You rolled 3. Now I'll roll...etc etc. ---Topic - Okay --- NPC Responses: I rolled 1 (it's-a-draw/you-win speech)/ I rolled 2 (you-win/you-lose/it's-a-draw speech)/ etc etc. So, any help with this would be appreciated. I will probably work out the Corrupt Gamemasters first, and then release that as a beta, and then look for some actual collaborations, but until then, any help with where to put certain values, scripting, or just plain telling me ideas for what could go in the mod would be GREATLY appreciated.
