StylinLP38
I was able to initially install and play Skyrim VR on STEAM without any issues. I got to the river village. Then I figured out how to install a few mods and the game still worked. Then I watched alot of youtube video's and found The Ultimate VR Mod Guide by lambomang. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=512d0mKCx0g&list=PLBF9H7wud__t1Y3fzvNN1VBlTa9MIN6yd&index=1&t=405s I installed ALL the mods listed in the Nordic Skyrim Mod Guide. Also a few more mods i thought were harmless. But in no particular mod order. Its too hard to figure that out. I changed some that the mods specifically stated to move but textures towards the bottom. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12562 I spent 4 days, over 30 hours of downloading adding and removing MODS. The game will not even launch. STEAM shows "Launching" Then briefly will say "Syncing" then crash out back to windows desktop. I tried removing a handful of mods at a time and try to relaunch. I even added that [LAUNCH] command to the INI file as the the youtuber GOPHER suggested. The game will crash after SYNCING. Now I have just 10 texture mods left and about to remove all of them. Also, I installed that separate massive 10GB Skyrim texture pack from another website. I downloaded all 3 files and rezipped them into another folder then imported it into NMM. I accidentally renamed the zip file a "b" but not sure if that would break anything What I really want is a step by step guide to modding SKyrim VR. I thought the Mod Guide above would help but it is not enough. I definitely need to know how to start over just to get the game to launch. Then I will add a few mods at a time and test launch it. Starting over again. Probably take me another 4 days just to get all these mods installed and working.
bZuYSu90
Did you run loot?If No, go run it, if Yes, What version and did it see all the plugins? (I needed the loot dev to sort my mod list for SkyrimVR) You can also try loading the game in xEdit with the -tes5vr flag and have it check for errors. What you describe sounds very much like a missing master, and those tools will identify that for you. Easiest way to insure you remove all mods is delete the data folder and then ask Steam to validate the game. If you added dll mods, and add shadow's dll loader, or an ENB, just delete everything in the game folder, all folders, everything and redownload. I then take a copy of the game in this pristine condition and archive it to my data drive so I don't have to download anything to restore to pristine. I also Mod Organizer 2, since they use only virtual file system links into the game directory and don't actually change the game directory. Sorry you had so much problems. Once you get the hang of it, it is fairly easy to manage. But there is a steep learning curve :)
StylinLP38
Yes I ran LOOT and sorted but it wasn't very accurate and I had to move some of the mods to a different spot in the loot order. That information was in the mods description. But I dont know if I did it right or caught them all. Its so iffy on the subject. 1. "delete the data folder and then ask Steam to validate the game" ok I can do that...Im worried about loosing all those huge MOD files I already downloaded. I would like to spare some effort in having to redownload alot of these mods I will still be using. 2. "added dll mods, and add shadow's dll loader, or an ENB, just delete everything in the game folder, all folders, everything and redownload" I dont think I added any of these kind of mods. I stuck with official Skyrim SE mods. 3. Mod Organizer 2. yes, Today was posted a GREAT new youtube video by FacePALM on setting up SKyrim VR! I am going to follow it exactly. It uses Mod Organizer 2. First I need to start over with a clean copy of Skyrim VR> I just want to make sure I do it right. bZuYSu90
You can save the zip files the mods were downloaded with and install them again later. They unroll into data (unless you are using something like MO2 or Vortex to virtualize them through link objects. I doubt it brings any real comfort, but I think all mod users have been here and had to start fresh. MO2 is also helpful in that it will reveal missing masters and it will identify missing esp/esm if you look at the save files (so you know what you have to reinstall or try to clean). StylinLP38
Thankyou bZuYSu90. Ok, I re-installed SKyrimVR in STEAM and started over. Installed Skyrim VR Mod Organizer and followed the youtube link i posted previously. Works GREAT! I am p to over 100 mods and the game is amazing and i am getting 0.9 reprojection with my Video Resolution set at 150% BIG QUESTION> I need to clear up a lot of hard drive space. Since i am not long using Nexus, what can I delete safely? Which folders can I delete. I noticed there is a Virtual Folder using 12 GB as well !~
bZuYSu90
Use a tool like windirstat to look for large cache of files you can get move or delete. Good visual tool for seeing file blocks by size. Picking which to move or delete is not something I can help with.
