Strange Problem

Here's the story so far:

 

First, I have several saves and running certain mods causes them to crash upon exiting through the main menu and rare crashes to desktop ingame. The first save was (and still is) the only save that dosen't do any of these. Eventually I try new versions of the mod, and it dosen't work. Then I try reinstalling Oblivion, no success. So then I try starting over from the first save and the same thing happens. My new saves get corrupted when running the certain mods. Everything is fine if I remove the mods causing the problem, but I don't really want to. Any way I could solve this?

oblvion doing that nasty ctd is normal if you run power hungry mods... but it shouldnt corrupt any savegames you just end up in windows faster lol

It wasen't always like this though. At first everything was ok. Then I think right around the time my computer got viruses is when the first problem happened: I had another mod that caused my game to crash whenever you go to a "loading..." screen when loading a second saved game after loading one before it. So then I formatted my computer and backed up Oblivion. Same thing until I removed that mod. Now it's better but still I'm now faced with the problem I have now: somehow a few other mods are causing crashes when I exit the game through the main menu, though if I just exit ingame it's ok. And rarely it crashes to desktop in the middle of gameplay (last time was approx. 1 hr 30 mins). Though if I remove the mods that cause it everything is normal, but if I try to use updated versions of these mods the crash on exit through main menu and random crash return. The mods I don't think are that power hungry and I have a good computer. Recently I did a virus scan on my Oblivion CD and it found nothing. See my post below for new character results.

i have the same, loading ctd and exit ctd... its annoying but hey... a mans gotta stand what a mans gotta stand :P

for exiting CTD's, first try to exit to main menu, then exit to desktop...

That's exactly what the problem is though, when I exit to main menu then to desktop that's when the exit CTD comes. It's fine if I just exit directly. Also, I tried creating a new character (just for testing) and starting from scratch like I said before and it still does the same thing.

 

I'll probably just quicksave alot and live with the crashes or remove the mods that cause it once they're finished. Unless someone can solve this problem. Oh well, at least my old character is still ok.

 

As for what mods I've had problems with:

-Haunted House mod caused the crashing at loading screen, I removed this mod a long time ago though so it's not a problem anymore.

-Ruined-Tail Companion mod, a modded Ruined-Tail with a Breton companion, and Cats And Rats caused the exit CTD and random CTD problem. Cats And Rats is gone, but I sort of want to keep Ruined-Tail mods.
