glitched companions quest

I don't know if this is going to be a spoiler or not but I'll assume it is...

I joined the companions early on in my current game. I took several jobs--went with Farkas to Dustman's Cairn, Went with Aela and Skjor to the Silver hand encampment, Went with Farkas (?) to recover the ancient sword piece. All these quests were completed successfully (although on the quest with Aela and Skjor, Skjor was killed) and my journal acknowledges that they were completed successfully. I also joined the Circle.

According to the UESP wiki I was supposed to talk with Skjor after the quest that Farkas gave me "Trouble in Skyrim." But Skjor was dead, so I obviously couldn't talk to him. The journal says that the quest was completed successfully but I can't get any new jobs from any of the Companions. They all ask me if I'm not "running a task for Farkas" and "come and see them when" I finish that.

I tried the setstage CR05 200 command. No joy. I tried resetquest CR05, no help. I did this when I was fairly new to the game so I was both nervous and undecided in which order to do them. I am not even sure I did them correct.

But after some time (Bethesda said it may heal itself...up to 30 days) I still can't move on with the Companions. I feel like I've been kicked out.

What's a lonely werewolf to do?

any thoughts? any help?

I can't imagine why you'd need to talk to Skjor after finishing one of Farkas' radiant quests. In fact, Skjor's death during "The Silver Hand" is scripted. There's no way to save him, and his death is the incentive for Aela's vendetta against the Silver Hands after that -- the driving force behind much of the Companions questline..

I encountered the same bug that you did during my very first playthough, and tried every trick I could uncover to jump-start the quest, all to no avail. I wound up junking that playthrough and starting all over again. I have yet to hear of a way of fixing this issue, but it's been reported, before, so we're not the only people who have experienced it.

I may have misunderstood...I never did see anything in the journal or in the game indicating I had to speak to Skjor but the wiki on Trouble in Skyrim does mention something about it as a way to correct the glitch.

I know I couldn't have saved him in the Silver Hand camp, in any regard.

I really regret it. I liked a number of the Companions--Vilkas, Farkas and Aela and to a lesser degree several others. I wanted to complete the game as a Companion.

Thanks for taking the time and thanks for the reassuring words that this is a recognized problem that may not be fixable. I suppose, regrets aside, I can, at least, move on.
