GlowingDinosaur
Hi! I know it's a little silly, but I've been playing with my Ryder for a while, and really like the hair I chose for her, but it bugs me that Suvi's got the same cut, especially since I'd like to romance her! I've played around with modding Sims 3, but I can't really figure out how to do switch out her hair cut (if it's even possible!)I've found the hair I'd like to give her, the C one (in characters>human>hmf>0_hair) I know that different characters have differents head shape, but that's about as far as I've come. Can anyone help pleaaaaaaase? Thanks!
RangerDulann
Have you been helped already? If not I have the solution. You need to changegame - characters - ambient - templates - global - appearancepreset_global_crew_science_officer At [2] and [3], Item: press the dots then clear assigned objectAt the filter type: hmf_hair_c_emilyYou need the two SimpleAppearanceItemDatahmf_hair_c_emily_simpleitem goes to [2]hmf_hair_c_emily_cloth_simpleitem goes to [3]Select the item, press arrow at [2] (Assign object from selected asset)And do this for the other one. See the screens: Result: She is beautiful.
GlowingDinosaur
Thanks so much, you're a star! Out of curiosity, I've noticed that not all the hairs have the 'cloth' files. Why is that? And what would change if I wanted to use one of those ?
RangerDulann
Cloth is for physics. Some hairs just dont have them, the shorter styles. You can use the hairs who don't have cloth. But you have to delete the other field, where the cloth would go. So right click [3] remove. If you just make it blank you'll get crashes. Now, if I can only find out how to change the color...
GlowingDinosaur
Oh ok!Thank you for satistying my curiosity  How do you figure these things out anyway? Trial and error?
RangerDulann
When I start modding a new game, I'll first look for any tutorials and tools. With Frosty I filter for keywords: textures, diff, norm etc. See how its organized. Then trial and error with crashes and bugs. Also reverse engineering.Hard to do with Frosty cause you can't see any details.Best tool I've used is Creation Kit for FO4/Skyrim.Every game should have one. Oh btw, it's not possible to change the hair color by changing a value. But you can edit the textures. Edited May 1, 2018 by RangerDulann
