I'm currently practicing creating follows. Any tips on where to start off and links to any forums or videos would be great. I know gaining Experience and learning the ins and outs take time but I'm willing to give it time. Hopefully at some point I can create my on mods that I want to see in skyrim :) Any help will be much appreciated :) From Ryan The True Dovah ;)
Algabar
Well, in the end it depends on YOU. What do YOU want to do? Create your own player home? Add some cool new spells? Create weapons or armor? Or expand on followers and maybe create a follower with quests, unique voiced dialogue? All four examples require totally different modding skills. IMHO, you can't "learn how to mod". Set yourself a goal. Keept it small for the beginning. Start with a house, not a large castle... After you've decided, what you would like to do, acquire the skills needed for your project, watch tutorials, download similar mods and look at their assets, ask for help here on the forums. Learning (and getting into modding requires a lot of it) is much easier, if you know WHY you have to learn this or that. To give you an example: Back in those wonderful days of Morrowind modding I decided I needed a special player home for my character. So I did some research on the Internet, asked on forums, learned how to work with the Creation Kit... It was a steep learning curve at the beginning, but it was okay, because I always had a goal. Learning just for the sake of learning gets boring fast. EDIT: As long as you don't have a clearly defined goal, there's maybe something you could do to practise some more: Learn how to properly port mods from "Oldrim" to SE. It's some sort of "basic" knowledge that will always come in handy, no matter what your further plans are. Bersides that, it will give you some insight in some of the stuff, that's "under the hood" in Skyrim (and other Bethesda games). There are good tutorials for porting mods out there. Do some research, watch some videos and follow the ones you like. Edited April 24, 2018 by Algabar
