Suggestion for a New Nexus Project

Perhaps the time has come to set up an automated process for the Nexus whereby every new mod submitted would be scanned with a tool like SSEedit and a list of cells modified would be incorporated into a database. Interior cells would also be cataloged.

The data in this database would be compiled and projected onto a map of Skyrim with cell borders visible.

When a mod user is interested in a given mod they could see where it edits and how many cells (and navmeshs) in Skyrim are edited. They could then assess whether the mod is compatible and worth downloading.

Perhaps it could even assess your load order and estimate compatibility and navmesh mayhem

This would have 3 beneficial effects:

1) Modders will probably clean up their act and check for wild edits before they release

2) Modders will become more focused making distributed changes to Skyrim only when they are worth the cost

3) Modders may start moving things out of Skyrim as it is already overmodded.

None of 1,2,3 may actually be realized but I ask you to assess how much work this would take and any potential benefits...

Yes you can do this yourself with SSEedit ..... but that isn't a very elegant solution and excludes those not familiar with that utility.

That's a lot of work to make - but I suppose you could start with the basics at least.

There are already tools and filters that do a good job of finding ITMs, old-form errors for SE mods and more - so setting up an automated process where that is checked on upload shouldn't be that hard. Nexus could automatically give a easily visible warning on the page if these issues are detected.

The rest is kind of beyond me to comment much about :D
