leveling Meeko

There was a discussion here the last week or so about getting Lydia to level up along with the player.

Can Meeko (a dog) be leveled up as well? Made more effective, have more health and stamina?

What class of follower is he?

Meeko does level up with you. I think his minimum level is 10 and his maximum is 25, though. To change this would probably require going into the CK and changing those parameters.

He's classified as an "animal follower", so you can have an NPC follower with him, but not a "stray dog" or Vigilance. Vigilance is the better option, since I think his level caps out around 50.

Yeah, I was thinking of sending him home. He got killed by an arrow in a fight the other day. I had to reload to save him. According to UESP wiki, Vigilance is invincible...so he shouldn't die.

That said there's another thread here on this forum that addresses the issue of whether or not followers level up with you. Whether Beth fixed that problem with the latest patch or not. Seems from what GETAVINFO reveals Bethesda did not and followers do not automatically level up with you.

I fixed that with Lydia (thanks to Rooker75) but I don't know what console command to enter or how to find out what class Meeko is...he isn't one handed.

I've never seen him I was just going on what the UESP wiki said.

thanks for letting me know. I sent Meeko home. I will worry about him though...his home is a shack in the woods with no one to take care of him since his master died.

You can use the CK or the NPC Editor to set any NPC or Dog as essential plus also set their min/max levels. I'd also recommend downloading and install the BDO mod, this has an option to "level up" any current follower (not sure if it would work on Meeko though)

If you're worried about Meeko then try this:

prid d95e9

setessential 1

That will make him unable to die.

It's probably unnecessary, though, since he goes into "last stand" mode when his health gets very low (assuming the last hit doesn't outright kill him). Enemy NPCs will then ignore him. This is not the case for followers, though, in case another follower goes aggro on him for some reason.

I like Meeko, but I hate followers, so I never take him along with me if I have to do any sneaking or if I'm going into a crowded, cramped interior cell. He's fun to have along on wilderness jaunts, though.

In my case followers don't level up at all. I assume I did the same thing you did to fix this with Lydia and Jordis "setclass 13176" where "13176" is the ID for one handed warrior. I would assume since dogs are followers that if you find the right ID you could do this for them as well? Anyway, I think this only works for your current level. In other words if you want your follower to level up with you, you must use this command each time you level up yourself. That's a pain so I've only been doing it every 4 or 5 levels. Hope that helps somebody.
