VileTouch
Hello, this is my first message here in the forums, although i have quite some time in tesnexus and even more in elderscrolls... i do this theread mainly for the collection of your impressions about this idea that has been flying over my head since i first tried a custom race mod, back in the morrowind days ok, i tell you in advance that this might be the start of a new mod i'm thinking about.... And what is it already!? - you ask - well, as the topic description says... i find very disappointing to be the ONLY member of a custom race, you name itmystic elf, tabaxi, dark hunter, half races, etc. as it would be more... expectable? to find more specimens of such races around tamriel the same goes for the body complexions... isn't it strange that EVERYBODY in tamriel has that athletic complexion, specially after you install exnem's modit would be more normal to have all tall and short, fat and skinny characters all over tamriel, more or less what MMM do with creatures. i don't know you but i find it very strange that a bartender that hardly moves from his stool and just eats and drinks ale all day long have all that muscles! i want to know what you think, because i know this is and enourmous work to do... as for example, would it be better to add a huge ammount of new NPCs to the world or just edit those existing (quest safe, hopefully), of course keeping the character bias (i mean, if it is originally a khajit, he would then be a tabaxi, not a mystic elf, or a breton-bosmer) regards
Vagrant0
The problem is that for an NPC to be a certain race, that race needs to be defined within a .esm, or within the same .esp that the NPC was made in. Although de-isolation may work, when it comes to something as fundimental as races, it probably isn't suggested. As having multiple race mods being active at once has been known to cause issues, especially if those mods affect hair and eyes, using mods which add companions and NPCs of other races doesn't generally work too well. Although much of this could be solved by the people who are in charge of race compilation mods making their mod a .esm that only affects races, hairs, eyes, and some scripting, that hasn't been done. There may even be some complications with doing so.
