fms1
My game isn't half that bright, and to the right (brightness slider in game, start menu, settings, display) is all the way bright for me, left reduces brightness.
nisen
hi im planning on doing a complete reinstall but using the steam copy makes it a cinch, you first uninstall all mods with nmm (and/or unsubscribe steam mods), replace the game folder with a clean vanilla copy and remove or delete the mygames/skyrim folder. If thats not how you reinstalled it before, and have a backup of the game folder itself try this other suedo reinstall to help troubleshoot whats causing the issue btw im not sure with your last comment if you were confusing left and right, but if the brightness slider in the menu's all the way to the right, that the brightest; all the way to the left is the darkest. Also your first confusion why screenshots looked normal but in game were ultra sharp and harsh, that effects created by post processing which isnt captured in some screehshots. In my experience using FXAA injector, screenshots the game takes (saved to the main game folder) had two copies, one a pre-rendered (corrupted) copy with the correct name, and another post rendered, filed as a png image, so if you used the games own screenshot tool, look for the png copy, that one shows the accurate reproduction. The Steam screenshots were pre-rendered also but not corrupted, and since ididnt like having screenshot bloat filling the game folder use Fraps instead cause it waits for the full rendering to complete before saving images
phadez
@nisen: thanks, but there is no screenshot copy. and well SORRY I wrote 'all the way to the right' but I meant 'left' ! :DSo it should be dark but it still is bright! ;P I reinstalled it before in the way you just wrote and I think I'll do it once again and this time after adding a mod I will always start the game and see if it's causing problems. Guess there is no other way.. Thanks for your support!

Havent tried Alternate start yet but sounds good
fms1
Also if you still have your old ini.'s before you used the ones I posted, check SkyrimPrefs in My Documents\ My Games\ Skyrim, for the 3 fBrightLightColor (B,G, and R) settings and any other lighting settings, to see if yours were different due to different hardware\ or mods that that may have changed those.
