yungskiz
i used to play oblivion, but 18gigs of game (mods) seem useless when unused. there was this really cool mod called starship orion by bond123 http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=10020 it would be cool to have something like that for new vegas, i dont know if a port is possible, but i like the whole clean appearance of it, that being said the vault pieces (i mean like the walls and rooms) would work well too, theres also cleaned up versions of the vault pieces out there that ive seen on the nexus i tried to send a message to bond123, i know has several mods for vegas, and the oblivion starship got a crap ton of well earned fame. but when i tried it gave me an error message..... i still plan on asking him directly.....somehow. theres a part of me that wants to take the task upon myself, but its very daunting, ive done small game tweaks but nothing like this. and i cant really bug test, my game crashes every other five minutes as is. and the last time i tried to make anything more than a tweak i got totally lost, i tried to open this bunker complex- i wanted to populate it with furniture but all i saw when i opened it was a few chunks of wall and flooring floating in space....... thanks for reading
Hyoukage
Dude, had a Moderator tell me this when I made a request about the Enclave Mobile Base Crawler from Broken Steel... "If it can be made with the available BSA resources, go for it. But don't port anything." Personally, I think it's a crock, as I'm quite certain several mods on the Nexus have been ported from somewhere. But, I'd agree to an airship... no worries about parking space (you're not on the ground), and you got the perfect vantage point for dropping sniper rounds, missiles and mini-nukes on everyone. The only issue with having a mobile base crawler, is the lack of areas one could park something what covers 20 city blocks. Unless you want to turn Cottonwood Cove into a new base crawler parking lot. Would likely irritate the Legion if you did.
kschang77
Dude, had a Moderator tell me this when I made a request about the Enclave Mobile Base Crawler from Broken Steel... "If it can be made with the available BSA resources, go for it. But don't port anything." It's the protect the NexusMods itself: it doesn't want to be subject to a DMCA takedown or somesuch. Remember, different designers, different assets and copyrights. Sure, Bethsoft may ultimately own them all, but why tempt fate and risk good will? Quetzlsacatanango
You can "port" things if you have the owner's permission. In the case you are talking about, the owner is not the uploader of the mod, but the creator of the assets, which look like all Oblivion material, so the owner is Bethesda. So good luck getting their permission. If you found some Oblivion spaceship mod where the materials were made by a user, and that user said it was Ok for you to convert to fallout, then that would not be a problem. Not too hard to understand, really.

yungskiz
thanks, i didnt think porting was an issue, i dont want content from another game, just a mod that bond123 made put into new vegas, i wasnt sure how to get a hold of him so i put a post up and commented on one of his recent mods
Hyoukage
That Airship mod that parks one near the 188? It's okay... but doesn't quite get the look I was going for. Way I see it, your airship should have some massive turbines for the lift and propulsion, and should look a bit like a massive airborne fortress. Think of it like a news headline... which of these would attract more notice? "Outhouse floating over the 188, NCR Personnel dropping like radroaches!" "Mysterious brown packages dropping on roving merchants! {Smells like Brahmin crap, says Novacs' local oddball, No-Bark Noonan.}" or "Fortification Hill last seen heading West into NCR Territory at 1500 feet off the ground!" "Artillery fire confirmed from Skyfortress Hill! NCR unable to respond in kind!"
yungskiz
i did try the airship mod, but its not big enough :(i wanted oblivions airship for my bos/warhammer saves ( i have like 30 diff. save games) that and i wanted that specific ship because it wasnt made of oblivion stuff.....back when i had it for oblivion it was the coolest thing because it was the most lore-unfriendly mod i had ever seen. the ships halls were not made out of medieval castle parts, but something you would find in star trek(dont call me on that, ive never actually watched star trek, between security work and school its hard enough to find time to game yet alone watch tv) . thats what i liked about it, that it was all clean and stuff, that and bond123 is flat out insane. in the captains quarters of the ship there was a f***** ice bucket with wine in it.....you couldn't pay me to add detail like that. i am working on this though, (not a port, whole new mod) the more i thought about it the more i began to realize i dont need anything new to make this. the ships interior could be made out of the vault pieces, period. suuuuure it would be like a vault in the sky but that actually seems very appropriate given the games lore. the only thing i couldnt do is the swimming pool-and it needs one. sure i could take the vault piece that has the overlook and fill it with water but thats not what i want. if you look at the pool from the spaceship mod its made of stone, like some hidden pool in a gorge or something, and the rocks in vegas are ugly.... but im nowhere close to finishing this yet alone starting it. i can do simple tweaks in the geck but this is a bit more intense than im used to, and i dont really just want to copy and paste the innards of a vault to a new interior and call it quits (i might do that though, i do know how to do that) i want to have npcs wandering and doing stuff, merchant shops, and a quest line seems like a good idea but i need to learn how to set up the architecture before i even attempt scripting.i know programming, god knows ive taken enough c+ classes, but i remember morrowinds construction kit and it has its own language
