Some mods do not work while others work just fine

I have trouble getting all mods to work and some solutions that work for others don't seem to work for me.

So far all the mods I have I downloaded and installed using NMM as it was supported of course.

Problem is that even though I manage to download and install the mods, some of them do not work at all while others work. For example I have Better Females by Bella-mod which works but ApachiiSkyHair doesn't have any effect in game for reason unknown.

I found a solution where people were told to change the SkyrimPrefs-file and add/change line bEnableFileSelection=1 and then choose the data files before launching the game. I did this and after that the game immediately crashes after the Bethesda logo. I was told to lower my graphic settings and I did but the problem remains.

Changing bEnableFileSelection back to 0 stops the crashing problem but that way some mods still refuse to work. Changing load order of the mods does nothing.

I'm not sure where the problem is behind this so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some modas just don't work with each other. Compatibility can be an issue. Get rid of one, and see if the other works. If so, then it was a compatibility issue. If not, then maybe you downloaded the mod wrong. Sometimes you get a mod that can't be put in the data folder. Check the two mods compatibility issues, and then check their installation steps, and be sure you followed them all.

Thank you for your response

I have tried that too. I don't have so many mods to begin with so it was easy to test them without others but even when using certain mod alone without any other it still refuses to work.

I have tried reinstalling them too with no luck.

I don't really know if it would fix the problem if the game wouldnät crash after enabling the data files selection but then again even without it some others mods work just fine so I'm pretty much clueless.

Okay I found out that the thing that caused the game to crash after the Bethesda logo was the Unofficial Skyrim patch.

Hair styles mod now works and I'm gonna try some others too but now I gotta wonder do I miss much without the Unofficial patch mod? Will I encounter bugs and glitches? I'm not so sure how vast the whole patch thing is.

  • 4 weeks later...

Skyrim modding is still in the early stages, kinks happen to all of us. Also mod authors do not always know of each other, so some conflicts are bound to happen, if the people are not aware what records are being changed. In the event you feel compelled to install many mods at once, dont.

Start of slowly and try to understand how things work instead.

Oh and disable the UAC from windows.

Otherwise you gonna go mad.
