Necromancer G
The weapons in oblivion are good no doubt but after a while swords, daggers, bows, magic, etc. get boring. But then there are the mods that give you weapons of the present, which I find boring (simply because I have to carry an M-4 with a M203 all day everyday and getting rocketed as well). But then there is fist fighting which is GREAT. Is there any fist fighting mods out there? What is your take on the weapons in the game.
Lainge
Terrible selection, Morrowind's was much better. Whoever's idea it was to get rid of spears should be shot.
DrIstvaan
I don't have much complaints about what type weapons we have, i.e. I don't really miss spears (however, a halberd would be nice) or throwing weapons; I find it lacking, though, that the weapons are "categorized". I mean, you have 1-handed or 2-handed blades, hammers and axes (BTW, WHO put the axes in blunt weapons?!), a few sub-types and that's all. No category for cutlasses, morning stars, flails and so on.Also, I find that it is too plain that every weapon is only characterized by its damage when it comes to fighting ability. I think they should have an accuracy rating and a more noticeable difference in hitting speed. For example, a Dwarven weapon could be more damaging and durable than an Elven one, which, in turn, would be much swifter and accurate.
macmert
I dont really like the melee weapons either, I use bows instead... I really miss D&D like weapons and damage dealing, BTW there is no critical damage except sneak attack right?
DrIstvaan
Yep, that is so; only by sneak-attacking can you deliver critical damage.
Necromancer G
I agree with DrIstvaan. Weapons should habe different attributes and some should do more damage. There should also be more diverse weapons from different parts of this world. For example: throwing knives, spears, rocks, blowguns, kamas. Might as well throw in some type of ancient flamethrower or Greek Fire.

Don't remember the title of the mod, however. I prefer bladed weapons myself (with a few judicious Destruction spells thrown in for good measure). Whoever's idea it was to get rid of spears should be shot.I agree spear and crossbows should have stayed in oblivion. Absolutely! I was SHOCKED to see that the most basic, most culturally universal, and most enduring weapon in history was completely nonexistent in Oblivion. And there's so much room for flavor with a spear: its just a shaft, and you can stick anything you want on the end. It can be a pointy stick or a dwarven lance, or it can have a dragon's tooth for the head, or a gemstone, or the bone of a saint--ANYTHING!Think of the cultural variety in the spear: Samurai, Zulu warriors, crusaders, hoplites, jaguar warriors, Comanches & Texas rangers...
