SMAA = Great quality AND performance

I don't know how many of you are familiar with SMAA so I thought I would post this as a heads up to those of you who haven't heard of it. SMAA is an antialiasing with the performance of FXAA and much, much better quality. It only has a 1 or 2 frame hit yet looks incredible. You can use it alone with no other AA enabled and get the quality of 8x MSAA just by using the SMAA injector. Or you can use 2x in the Skyrim launcher and the quality is comparable to 16x MSAA. I was so impressed with the results that I added this to several of my other games with great results. With the performance of FXAA (minus the vaseline on the screen effect) and the quality of at least 8x MSAA you can't go wrong with this. The only thing this does not work with is FXAA and RCRN. Other than that it is compatibile with everything else. Do yourself a favor and give this a try. Everyone I know that has tried it was very pleased with the results. It is a super easy install (and uninstall how dare you!) so it is worth trying. Here's a link to an SMAA injector with a d3d9.dll for non-ENB users and one set up for ENB. The quality and performance are more than worth it.

Can you get it to work with nVidia Optimus?

Hmm, I don't have Optimus myself but I don't see why this wouldn't work with it. If for some reason it doesn't (and I think it will) then it is really easy to uninstall and your game will be back to normal with no side effects. It is definitely worth trying though. Everyone I know who is using this is very happy with the results.

I've seen some Nvidia tech demos, and it's frepic. (frickin epic) It looks four times as good as MSAA from the promotional videos and those screens with the mod. Edited by Rennn

I've seen some Nvidia tech demos, and if the injector version is similar to the official version through Nvidia drivers, it's frepic. (frickin epic) It looks four times as good as MSAA from the promotional videos and those screens with the mod.

Yes, it is very impressive and from what I understand it will soon become a standard option with the new cards.

First thanks for that link and the writeup, gonna check this out, So when you say its not compatible with fxaa, dyou mean the launcher setting or the mod fxaa injector, the SMAA mod page says theres "FXAA or ENB wrapper versions" im assuming that means fxaa injector compatible

and Ive reciently installed Dynavision which looks awesome but destroys my x4 AA setting which was perectly smooth before but has horrible jagged egdes now, so been looking for a low performance hit way to reduce the jaggeds and keep Dynavision.

Awesome to hear, I'm waiting for just a bit, for a slight price drop, then plan to get a HD 7970 Black Ed.

I'm so sorry I just noticed this. Yes, it is compatible with FXAA injector just not the antialiasing function. Sorry I wasn't a little more clear about that.

I can agree, try turning off FXAA and then turn on Morphiologic filtering to remove the jaggy's, it looks so much better now with fxaa off

Msaa maxed out.

I have a gigabyte 7950
