xxom3nxx
Whenever I have the BetterSettlers.esp enabled in my plugin list, the number of fps drops I get in my game increase by 4-6x more depending on where I'm going or running to; I tested this simply by running a similar route from sanctuary to corvega assembly plant and no matter the load order is, I will have only 0-1 fps drops when BetterSettlers is disabled and 5-9 drops when it is enabled. After downloading and using FO4Edit, I found out that the mod ScrapEverything is actually having some conflicts with the BetterSettlers.esp; after seeing that I decided to create a patch but even after creating a patch that overwrites the conflicts I still suffer from frequent fps drops when the BetterSettlers.esp is enabled. Here are links to screenshots of the conflict https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/images/114028 and https://imgur.com/qGuupHb and a screenshot of the patch (named Conflict Winner) https://imgur.com/JrhOzTZ I have no idea on how to fix this problem and I have even tried swapping my load order around numerous times to no avail. Any help is appreciated. Here is my current load order by the way (i have the bettersettlers.esp and the patch disabled because the patch could not fix the fps drops): GameMode=Fallout4 Fallout4.esm=1DLCRobot.esm=1DLCworkshop01.esm=1DLCCoast.esm=1DLCworkshop02.esm=1DLCworkshop03.esm=1DLCNukaWorld.esm=1Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch.esp=1ArmorKeywords.esm=1Homemaker.esm=1HUDFramework.esm=1DEF_WIDGETS_CORE.esm=1SimSettlements.esm=1CROSS_CryoLance.esp=1TheKite_Railroad_Handmaiden.esp=1CROSS_InstituteExpeditionarySuit.esp=1CROSS_CourserStrigidae.esp=1CROSS_BrotherhoodRecon.esp=13dscopes-framework.esp=13dscopes-replacer.esp=13dscopes-replacer-addtospawn.esp=1LooksMenu.esp=1Insignificant Object Remover.esp=1dD-Enhanced Blood Basic.esp=1Pip-Boy Flashlight.esp=1LongerPowerLines3x.esp=1ValdacilsItemSorting-00-ValsPicks-DLCVersion.esp=1ValdacilsItemSorting-ZY-DLCAutomatron.esp=1ValdacilsItemSorting-ZY-DLCNukaWorld.esp=1ValdacilsItemSorting-ZY-DLCFarHarbor.esp=1ValdacilsItemSorting-JunkBetter.esp=1ValdacilsItemSorting-MiscWeightless.esp=1VIS UFO4P Patch.esp=1ValdacilsItemSorting-AidReducedWeight.esp=1chem redux.esp=1BetterJunkFences.esp=1PlayerComments.esp=1EveryonesBestFriend.esp=1Reverb and Ambiance Overhaul.esp=1Quieter Settlements - Shadyfan4500
I haven't played Fallout 4 in years, but it turns out I have this mod installed too. I don't recall having this problem, but I'm not sure I have ScrapEverything. If the frame drops only occur when both mods are enabled, then you should check FO4Edit closer again, I think. Check each mod themselves, rather than create a merged patch. There could be more conflicts that the patch didn't show.. I've seen that before. Otherwise, you could search the Fallout4.esm file in FO4Edit and find conflicts in similar areas and see if that helps. If you want to go super in-depth, you could fix every single conflict, but that would take ages. Thom239 made several posts on the mod, one of which talks about Load Order. You might want to take a look at yours, once again, and see if yours matches what they recommend, but it probably does. If none of that alleviates the problem, I would probably begin reinstalling mods. First would be a regular reinstall, and then next up I would swap which mod wins over the other, if you're using NMM or Vortex or any other mod loader. phpones
I have both those mods and have no problem, steady 60 fps. If you suspect it's the conflict, have you tried to disable Scrap Everything and keep Better Settlers enabled? If so, do you have the same FPS drops? Frogzilla82
To be blunt, stop using Scrap everything, it breaks more more than it helps. There are other scrap mods far superior that do not need settings that break your game.

Then the problem isn't the conflict Scrap Everything <-> Better Settlers. You might be having another interaction between Better Settlers and maybe something graphic heavy or settlement related.- Do your drops happen only in a settlement or everywhere? - Do you have any other mod that alter NPCs, specially texture mods? As I said, In my case I don't have any difference, I'm always at 60fps... but it might be that Better Settlers is just too heavy for your current setup (hardware + enabled mods)?Next test I would do is disable EVERYTHING except Better Settlers and its requirements (Eli's armor, ponytails, etc) and do another run at it. Well, not everything... Vals, DEF_UI, Unnoficial FO4 Patch... this kind of stuff can stay. But definitely launch without F4SE to disable it completely. Well, not everything... Vals, DEF_UI, Unnoficial FO4 Patch... this kind of stuff can stay. But definitely launch without F4SE to disable it completely. The drops happen everywhere, I do have certain NPC texture mods/appearance changes (GreatActors) but they aren't mods that can cause major conflicts imoI don't think it an issue with Better Settlers being too heavy as I have GTX 1070ti and an i5 8500k and even when I downscale my resolution to 1080p (i normally play 1440p) I still get fps drops.I just did the test you mentioned and I even went as far as testing the game again with the betterSettlers.esp disabled and I didn't get fps drops, but when bettersetters.esp is enabled the fps drops come back, even if it is the only mod enabled, and even if it is enabled with the other mods it requires. I even went as far as fully uninstalling it on mod manager then installing again from the website and nothing changed. I think, for now, I will just keep BetterSettlers disabled in my playthrough (which sucks but its necessary) and if I decide to make a new one character, i will just be more selective in the mods I download and i will also try to see if any weird conflicts occur earlier on.Thank you all for the help and if any of you or anyone wants to drop more information and advice feel free.
