My sword has some small parts and i was wondering if i should extract my UV map (Ive done the UV map and it was easier than expected)as a 512 x 512 image or bigger for better quality? (you know to customize it in photoshop / GIMP )and if there's any problem making the image bigger any response can be helpful and the sooner i get one is the sooner i can launch my mod ;) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Vagrant0 Posted July 12, 2008 Share Posted July 12, 2008 For weapons, it depends alot on the shape of the weapon and how detailed you want parts of it. I wouldn't go above 1024x1024 though, large textures mean more memory being used, which can lead to a drop in performance. I believe one method was to use a 512x512 diffuse texture, then a 1024x1024 normal map which had some of its features enhanced.
