[LE] Can I Stop CK64 to overwrite Facegen when save NPC.esp?

Recommended Posts

Hi, CK64 usually re-generate facegen mesh and textures, for NPC.esp.

So is there way to stop it, then it only work when I use ctrl+F4?

why I ask it, I am now making many NPC with one custom race. (I plan to make NPC visuall bank, which use only for NPC visuall transfer)

I need to tweak them much, CK and check in game, again and again.

but everytime when I save (overwrite) esp, CK64 generate all facegen data of actors in my mod and overwrite them.

even though I edit One actor. and if I miss keep facegen in another directory, (to protect), CK re-generte and overwrite

then return all facegen data, as vanilla mesh parts.

So how yours manage it? you manually protect them and everytime overwrite facegendata again, after save the esp?

Someone will correct me if I am wrong here.

I believe you need to create a general race model first, then duplicate the model when you generate a new character. Double click on the duplicate and when the edit page comes up, rename it immediately and save it as an .esp file. Now re-open it, edit your facegen data, then hit OK and CTRL+F4 to save that face gen data for that character. It should not affect your other models because you are exporting the facegen data to an established .esp file for that particular character. You need to do that for each character you create in that specific race, otherwise it will export the facegen to all your characters unilaterally within that race category.

So this is what works for me. Someone else may have a different method, but this is just the easiest way I think, especially if you are going to create several characters of unique features in the same race. I hope this helps you. Good luck.

At first thanks you try to help me,,

then I need to apologize because My question is only about Skyrim SE CK, then I ask in wrong forum  I forget,, CK64 means,, simply CK,, not means

CK for SE... but my problem is only about CK for SE..

I serched forum for SE CK but, I could not before.. but I found now :pinch:

Then actualy I already made original custom race (it is duplicated from default human race (nord), then I believe I use same work flow. as same as your suggestion.

usually I use ECE or Racemenu then export facegen data,, and use nif merge tool (or Nifscope) to adjust node name, then have made many custom followers.

but CK for SE show unique behavor about facegen datas. ( it is really annoying for me,,)

skyrim CK never overwrite facegen mesh and texture, untill I click ctrl + F4. on the ohter hands CK for SE everytime re-generate facegen data meshes.

when I save esp which use facegen data.

It happen about all NPC mods which I currently used too .(they are offered as SE version,, so I believe my way is not worng.)

(We have no easy way, about SE , to export facegen nif with ECE or Racemenu,, then when I make NPC , I usually use oldrim and CK, then make mod

for oldrim (skyrim LE) then, convert it for supecial editon version,,,, but final adjustment need to work with CK (SE).

Anyway,, I may up-load question, in Skyrim special editon forum.. I google to serch same question, but most of them are not replied,, then I feel

if there is way to customize CK (SE) with ini etc,,,

and forgive me,, if you said about CK (SE), I may need to check again.

SSE Creation Kit Fixes https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/20061?tab=files. This mod puts an INI file in your Skyrim SE directory which allows you to enable/disable the auto facegen export upon saving. Go to skyrim64_test.ini and find "[CreationKit_FaceGen] - DisableAutoFaceGen=" and set to false if it isn't already, can't remember.
