Mod to pick a lock (for XP) when you have the key for it

In Fallout 4, keys cannot be dropped once they are picked up. If you interact with a lock that is pickable, but you have the key for it, the game will automatically unlock it with the key and you get no XP. This has always pissed me off. It should ask you if you want to use the key. I almost always skip picking up keys for this reason. However, some locks cannot be picked and require a key. In this case, you have to backtrack and find the keys that you intentionally skipped! I tried to get Nick to pick up the key instead, but he refused. Am I overlooking some built-in way to get around this, or does a mod exist for this already?

 

I've attempted to use Google for this, which is essentially impossible, and I tried to use the forum search, which seems to be equally useless. All of the Google results are not related to what I'm searching for. The forum search applies to the entire forums by default even though I'm in the Fallout 4 section. I was going to narrow it by game title, but the forum list in advanced search is a tiny box that appears to be ordered randomly (not alphabetical) and you have to scroll through maybe 100 or more forums to find "Fallout 4". I gave up quickly on that terrible design. So I have no idea if this mod exists or not.
