need help changing shishkebab

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I'm new to the forums as well as modding so sorry if I miss something. I've followed all the tutorials I can find and studied the creation kit wiki. I've installed photoshop,gimp,fo4edit,creation kit, bae, blender, nifskope, and material editor. I have made multiple versions of a Quantum-Kebab However attempting to change the fire in both part A and part B (Holding and swinging) has stumped me. I have made versions which are incompatible with creation kit(?), versions with black flame somehow, and have tried changing the actual pictures of the flame in the FireFlame.dds and I have failed multiple times. I know this is sad but I've spent about 10 HOURS with no success and am just now thinking surely someone here knows something to help me. Thanks for any tips

I want to ask some things to specify your problem.

Your problem here is only changing color of flames? Everything goes right before that?

"Incompatible with creation kit" means crashing when opening nif with CK?

"Black flame" has alpha gradient or not?

I'm not certain what you did for the nif at this time, so some tips is here focusing on FireFlame.dds .

Image should have size of power of 2. Or the image crashes the CK (and opening this image with gimp may cause the warning).

You should select proper compression on exporting dds from gimp. Some of compression types remove color channel, and removing alpha channel may cause black color. I don't know which compression has been used on original FireFlame.dds , but "no compression" will be OK.

Thanks for the tips and yes my only problem is changing the color of the flames, It does crash when the I try to open the nif in ck, I'm not sure what "alpha gradient" is sorry but the flame is just a still black flame with the normal orange sparks when swinging. I will try what you said with the fireflame.dds and see what happens. Thanks again
